Jenna Fischer sends love to fellow ‘Office’ star Lucy Davis after cancer diagnosis
Lucy Davis got love from her fellow “Office” actress Jenna Fischer after going public with her terminal cancer diagnosis.
Fischer, a breast cancer survivor, commented on Davis’ “beautiful post” via Instagram on Tuesday.
“Love you lots,” Fischer, who played Pam Beesly in the U.S. version of the show, wrote before co-signing Davis’ decision to continue “working with cancer.”
She gushed, “Let’s spread that message far and wide! How working is such a comfort.”
Fischer, notably, was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer in December 2023 — and confirmed the following year that she is cancer-free after a lumpectomy, 12 rounds of chemotherapy and one week of radiation.
Davis, meanwhile, told her followers on Tuesday that her Stage 4 breast cancer, which she was diagnosed with a year and a half ago, “metastasized to [her] bones.”
The 53-year-old, best known for playing Dawn Tinsley on the original “Office” series, noted that the disease is “incurable” and has spread to her spine, right hip and ribs.
She added, “It is too late for chemo.”
The “Wonder Woman” star is now “trying to live out whatever might be left of [her] life in as fun a way as [she] possibly can.”
She continued, “I’m not scared of whatever comes next. I’m at peace with it. … For me, leaving my physical body just means going home. Any and all grieving is for my family; it’s far harder for them than for me.”
Her former co-star Ricky Gervais reacted to the social media upload with a red heart emoji.
Other celebs who have worked with Davis shared their support in the comments section.
Edgar Wright, who directed the 2004 movie “Shaun of the Dead,” commented, “Love you Lucy. Always. See you very soon.”
“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” star Kiernan Shipka wrote, “I love you so much Lucy ❤️❤️❤️.”
Additionally, Davis’ dad, comedian Jasper Carrott, gushed, “We are so proud of our daughter and love her so much. The way she has conducted herself through many traumatic health issues is a lesson to us all.”
