Jessica Mulroney’s ex gives surprising update on stylist’s relationship with Meghan Markle
Jessica Mulroney and Meghan Markle, best friends forever?
The stylist’s ex-husband, Ben Mulroney, gave a surprising update on Jessica’s friendship with Markle during a sit-down with Travis Dhanraj and Karman Wong on Wednesday’s episode of their “Can’t Be Censored” podcast.
While speaking about attending Markle’s wedding with Prince Harry in 2018, the former “Canadian Idol” host was asked about the reports that he and Jess are no longer friends.
“It’s Jess’s story to tell, I wouldn’t speak for her, so if she ever wants to talk about it…,” he said before noting, “From what I understand, they are on positive terms.”
Ben, 49, and Jessica, 45, seem to be on good terms after splitting in July 2025, as Page Six revealed. The couple — who had been married for 16 years — share three children, who were part of Markle’s wedding to Harry.
As for Markle and Jessica, the two were longtime friends until the latter was accused of “textbook white privilege” by fellow fashion influencer Sasha Exeter in 2020.
And although Jessica immediately apologized for her behavior, it was reported that the Duchess of Sussex was left mortified over the allegations.
Per the DailyMail, Markle “said Jessica is in no way a racist, but the way she handled the situation (with the fashion influencer) was tone-deaf and heartbreaking.”
“Meghan said friends reflect friends and because of what’s at stake, she can no longer be associated with Jessica, at least not in public,” the source continued. “She has to do what she has to do in order to preserve her dignity and her own reputation.”
Despite seemingly cutting ties with Jessica over the situation, a source told Page Six at the time that their friendship was already on the outs.
Markle felt that her friend was “benefiting” from her position as royal BFF and stylist.
The white privilege “row has really given Meghan the excuse she was waiting for to cut Jess off for good,” the insider explained.
However, Jessica seemingly clung to their friendship, dubbing Markle her “kindest” friend.
By 2025, she had changed her tune when a source claimed to the Daily Mail, “If [Jessica] could go back, a part of her wishes she was never part of [Markle and Prince Harry’s 2018] wedding.”
“While she enjoyed all the exposure it brought her at the time, that same exposure is what caused her social media rift to blow up in the way it did and led to the end of her friendship with Meghan and her marriage,” the source claimed.
While Jessica “did consider Meghan family,” she now reportedly “sees that whole time as a ‘dark cloud.’”
