Jessica Simpson’s husband, Eric Johnson, ditches wedding ring as divorce rumors heat up

Perhaps she doesn’t want to love him forever.

Jessica Simpson’s husband, Eric Johnson, was spotted without his wedding ring amid rumors that the couple is headed for a divorce.

The former NFL player, 45, was photographed enjoying a walk with his parents in Los Angeles with a bare left ring finger on Tuesday.

Johnson bundled up in a dark hoodie and dark-wash jeans with Nike sneakers.

He tried to stay under the radar in black sunglasses and a backward baseball cap.

The athlete’s ringless outing came the same day that a source told Page Six exclusively that he and Simpson, 44, stopped attending their kids’ school events together in recent months.

The couple share daughters Maxwell, 12, and Birdie, 5, and son Ace, 11.

“In years past, Jess always attended events at the school either solo or with Eric. Never Eric alone. But recently it’s just been Eric,” our source shared.

“As you can imagine, there’s been a lot of gossip among the parents.”

Earlier this week, the pop star fueled breakup speculation when she posted a cryptic message on social media that had fans convinced she was hinting at the end of her marriage.

“Interviews in my Nashville music room where I unearthed my singular magic,” she wrote alongside a series of sensual photos of herself on Monday.

“This comeback is personal, it’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve.”

Several followers flocked to the comments section to theorize that Simpson was suggesting her single status, though others noted that she could be talking about working on new music.

Later that day, Jessica’s sister, Ashlee Simpson, responded to a paparazzo who asked about the gossip surrounding the spouses’ relationship.

“Do you know anything about it? Is that true?” the photographed asked the “Pieces of Me” singer, 40, who bluntly replied, “No.”

Jessica notably has posted several photos of herself without her wedding ring over the past few months. However, she and Johnson were seen enjoying a romantic Valentine’s Day date at Ivy at the Shore in Santa Monica, Calif., in February.

The fashion designer last gushed about her husband on Instagram while celebrating his birthday in September 2023.

“Eric turned 44 on Sept 15 and his family gave him all the love cells we have to celebrate his life,” she wrote at the time, adding, “My heart is so taken with this Man, I could hardly call it my own….We love youuuu (he ain’t an Instagram guy, but I always think the more good wishes the better).”

Jessica and Johnson wed in July 2014. She was previously married to Nick Lachey.
