Jim Carrey shut down claims that his “clone” attended the César Awards on his behalf last week.

“Jim Carrey attended the César Awards, where he accepted his Honorary César Award,” the “Mask” actor’s rep, Marleah Leslie, told Page Six Monday.

Additionally, Gregory Caulier, the general delegate of the César Awards, also shut down the impersonator claims, calling Carrey’s rare appearance “a historic moment.”

“Jim Carrey’s visit has been planned since this summer. From the outset, he was extremely touched by the Academy’s invitation,” Caulier told Variety.

“Eight months of ongoing, constructive discussions. He worked on his speech in French for months, asking me about the exact pronunciation of certain words,” he added.

Caulier said Carrey “came with his partner, his daughter, his grandson and 12 close friends and family members.”

“His longtime publicist accompanied him. His old friend Michel Gondry, who has made a film and two series with him, was there, and they were delighted to see each other again,” he continued.

“For me, it’s a non-issue. I just remember his generosity, his kindness, his benevolence, his elegance.”

Conspiracy theories swirled after Carrey, 64, made a rare appearance at the awards in Paris, which honored the best French films of 2025.

Fans took to social media claiming the “Dumb & Dumber” star had gone under the knife or had been cloned, noting that his eye color appeared different from prior outings.

“You can’t convince me they didn’t clone Jim Carrey…,” wrote one suspicious user on X.

“I’ve been talking about human cloning for a long time and I’m glad to see it finally gain some traction. Jim Carrey was cloned years ago. Something has changed behind the scenes to allow us to see unfinished and malfunctioning clones,” added another.

“I don’t understand why people don’t think this is Jim Carrey! He just had some bad plastic surgery…,” claimed a third person.

To add fuel to the rumors, makeup artist Alexis Stone took to Instagram Sunday, claiming he stood in for Carrey at the awards show.

In the carousel, Stone shared photos of the comedian from the César Awards and an image of a mask of Carrey’s face. Behind the mask was a brown wig, similar to how Carrey’s hair was styled, placed on a mannequin.

As the clone allegations ramped up, a resurfaced video of Carrey claiming he didn’t “exist.”

“I don’t exist. So, they’re all characters that I played, including Jim Carrey,” he said. “Jim Carrey was a less intentional character because I thought I was just building something that people would like. But it was a character.”

Carrey took a break from acting in the late 2010s, telling the Hollywood Reporter in 2018 that he “didn’t want to be in the business anymore” and wanted to focus on other creative passions.

However, the actor came out of retirement for “Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” which was released in 2024, after blowing through his savings.
