Joe Jonas Gets Called a ‘Womanizer’ in New Jonas Brothers Holiday Movie: Every Nod to His Love Life

The Jonas Brothers’ new holiday movie does not hold back when it comes to poking fun at Joe Jonas’ love life.

The film, which hit Disney+ on Friday, November 14, sees Joe — along with siblings Nick Jonas and Kevin Jonas — playing heightened, hilarious versions of themselves. The trio end up on an unexpected adventure when, after wrapping up the European leg of their tour in London, they struggle to find a way home to New York in time for Christmas.

Their bad luck, of course, isn’t random: Santa Claus (played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson) casts a mischievous spell on the brothers after meeting them and seeing how disconnected they are from each other. With each new, seemingly insurmountable obstacle, Joe, Kevin and Nick must learn how to communicate and find their rhythm again not just as bandmates but as family.

Billie Lourd, Laverne Cox, KJ Apa and Andrew Barth Feldman also star, while Nick and Kevin’s respective real-life wives, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Danielle Jonas, make cameos with their kids. Joe, meanwhile, is single and secretly searching for a real romantic connection in the film: something he ultimately finds when bumping into childhood pal Lucy (Chloe Bennet). But with his brothers poking fun at his love life at every turn, Joe struggles to make his real feelings known.

“I thought my team was joking. They were like, ‘We have this offer for you to do this movie and you’re going to sing,’ and I didn’t respond to them for weeks because I thought they wer just f***ing with me,” Bennet confessed to Billboard at the film’s premiere earlier this month. “And then they weren’t, so it’s kind of a no-brainer. I grew up loving the Jonas Brothers. So, to get to just randomly spend a fake Christmas with them for a month and a half and run around with Joe in Amsterdam, that was so fun.”

‘Lovable Tramp’

Kevin and Nick take multiple shots at Joe’s romantic history throughout the film, making multiple insinuations that he sleeps with a lot of women. “How many ‘connections’ have you had this month?” Kevin asks in one scene, to which Nick replies, “Joe can’t count that high.”

When the trio get on the wrong train in Amsterdam, they argue about who is to blame. (Spoiler: no one, really, because Santa was playing tricks on them).

Nick gets labeled the “uptight, responsible” one, while Kevin is “human cardboard” and Joe is called the “lovable tramp.”

‘A Few Bad Breakups’

After Joe runs into his childhood friend Lucy, the two take a late-night walk around Amsterdam and discuss their relationship histories. As she chats about her recent split from her ex-boyfriend, Joe replies, “I’ve got a few bad breakups under my belt as well.” (Joe filed for divorce from ex-wife Sophie Turner in September 2024. The exes share two daughters.)

Lucy hesitates before confessing, “I don’t know what to do here. Do people pretend not to know everything about your personal life? And then do you pretend not to know that they’re pretending not to know?”

“Yeah that’s pretty much how it goes,” Joe says with a laugh as Lucy apologizes. “That’s so weird, I’m sorry!” she says.

‘Vapid Womanizer’

When the brothers find themselves surrounded by wolves in the wilderness — yes, really — during the movie’s climax, the siblings end up getting very candid about their insecurities and pent-up anger toward one another.

Joe lashes out at Nick, claiming he thinks he’s ”better than everyone” and pointing out that his younger brother always takes shots at his personal life and assumes he’s a “vapid womanizer.”

Nick and Kevin’s teasing, Joe says, starts to make him believe that “maybe I’m just this shallow idiot my brothers say I am.”

‘Terrified of Falling’

The film ends with Joe and his brothers making up and celebrating Christmas together at Kevin’s house. Kevin and Nick, to make up for poking fun at their sibling, invite Lucy over as a surprise. Joe ends up confessing his feelings to her, revealing that he’s scared to get hurt or ruin things with her.

“I was terrified of falling for you and it blowing up in my face,” he admits before they share a sweet kiss in front of the family.
