John Legend’s kids are following in his footsteps!

The Voice judge, 46, revealed on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Monday, Feb. 17 that he and his wife Chrissy Teigen’s two older children Luna, 8, and Miles, 6, are musical like their dad and that the couple likes to “embarrass” the kids whenever they attend their school recitals.

Legend shared with host Kelly Clarkson that Luna and Miles “are taking vocal lessons” and that his daughter is also “in musical theater at school.”

“What kind of parent are you when you go to their performances, are you like the embarrassing one?” Clarkson asked the singer.

“Yeah, we like the embarrass her,” Legend teased. “You know, Chrissy is going to make some noise and I make some noise and she’s like, ‘Dad, Mom!’ ” Clarkson, 42, who agreed that she is also an embarrassing parent, said in response, “We’ve earned it.”

“Yes absolutely,” Legend replied. “And they need support. We’re supporting them.”

Legend and Teigen, 39, tied the knot in 2013. The pair share four children, daughters Luna and Esti, 2, and sons Miles and 20-month-old Wren.

Later in the interview, Legend discussed the concept behind his 2024 children’s album My Favorite Dream. He shared that he and Teigen sing made-up lullabies to their children and want to pass these down to their kids.

“Our songs are silly … like, Chrissy makes up songs, I make up songs,” the 13-time Grammy winner said. “And my dad used to do that to us all the time. He would sing a bedtime song … just to motivate us. But this time I really wanted to formalize it and make real songs that I could record for my kids and for everybody else’s kids.”

In September, Legend spoke to PEOPLE about his interesting experience in having his children and wife sing the hook on the lead single “Love” off the album.

“We recorded a video of me trying to wrangle them and show them how to navigate the studio,” he said. “The main thing was keeping everybody on time with the tempo and everything. And they’re not used to singing and using headphones and things of that nature … you have to kind of show them how to navigate.”

Legend explained that the recording studio was right by his kids’ school and it ended up being a “pretty quick and easy” process in the end — given his two eldest kids’ musical talents.

“The kids came by after school and it took us probably about 10 minutes to finish,” he said. “Once they got used to using the headphones and everything it was pretty easy for them to knock it out.”
