John Mayer Reveals Whether He Gets ‘Lonely’ After Split From Influencer Kat Stickler
John Mayer is getting candid about navigating periods of loneliness.
“I think we have a lot of tools at our disposal to prevent feeling lonely, so I don’t feel very lonely a lot of the time,” Mayer, 48, told his friend Andy Cohen ahead of his Wednesday, August 26, performance for SiriusXM. “I’m worried about that because I don’t think any of our asses hit the ground anymore when we’re alone because there’s so much stuff to do to.”
The singer continued, “Basically, we never hit rock bottom of loneliness, and so the only thing that makes me realize that I’m lonely is the passage of time and I’m like, ‘You can’t keep doing this.’ You can figure out a way to satisfy yourself through a weekend, but then that’s another weekend and another weekend and another weekend, and they all build up.”
While Mayer acknowledged that it can be easy to believe that “you know how to get through” one weekend just fine, but it becomes more challenging when one weekend turns into multiple weekends quickly.
“I think there’s a lot of people who are like, ‘Yeah, I know how to get through a weekend just fine.” But now it’s November, and now it’s March, and now it’s July, and now it’s October,’” he stated. “So, do I get lonely? Unfortunately, [but] I have a sensational time on my own.”
Mayer is recently single following the end of his whirlwind romance with influencer Kat Stickler. Us exclusively confirmed in June that “Daughters” musician and Stickler, 31, ended their casual fling after several months.
“It wasn’t a dramatic split, the relationship just fizzled out,” a source told Us at the time. “They realized they have very different lifestyles but it was a lot of fun while it lasted and are still friends.”
According to the insider, Stickler was admittedly “hesitant” to introduce Mayer to her 6-year-old daughter, MK, from a previous relationship.
“Kat was always hesitant bringing her daughter around someone she was dating and both of their busy schedules made it hard to navigate,” the insider told Us, adding that the content creator is protective and intentional about who she introduces to her only child.
Neither Mayer nor Stickler publicly addressed their relationship status or eventual breakup.
Kat, who was previously married to ex-husband Mike Stickler from 2019 to 2021, later dated Bachelor Nation alum Jason Tartick for several months in 2024.
As for Mayer, he has famously been romantically linked to the likes of Taylor Swift, Jennifer Aniston, Katy Perry, Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Love Hewitt throughout his decades in the limelight.
