Joy Behar Comments on Taylor Frankie Paul’s Bachelorette Casting: ‘She’s Got a Little Bit of Baggage’

Taylor Frankie Paul’s casting as the next lead of The Bachelorette continues to be a topic of conversation full of mixed reactions.

On Friday, Sept 12, the news that Paul will be searching for love on season 22 of the beloved franchise was a topic of debate for the women of The View.

After Joy Behar explained that Paul announced she would be the next Bachelorette on a special episode of Call Her Daddy, the show shared a clip from the podcast in which Paul explained to host Alex Cooper that she still hadn’t processed the news or told her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen.

She and Mortensen share a son named Ever True, who was born in March 2024, a few months before they split.

Paul is also a mother to daughter, Indy May, who was born in August 2017, and son Ocean, who was born in June 2020. She shares both children with her ex-husband, Tate Paul. The two wed in 2016 and announced they were getting divorced in 2022.

“She has three kids and two baby daddies,” said Behar. “Will these bachelors line up to be baby daddy number three?”

After Sunny Hostin said, “That’s a lot of responsibility,” Behar asked, “Isn’t that the whole point of the show? To find your lover and get married, right? She’s got a little bit of baggage there.”

The segment ended with Alyssa Farah Griffin sharing that she believes Paul is “excellent” for the show as she’s “super authentic and she’s extremely chaotic, and those are both great for reality TV.”

Paul expressed some of the reservations she has for joining The Bachelorette while on the Call Her Daddy podcast.

“How do I make this work? I’m a co-parent I have two baby daddies not one, so I’m dealing with two different people, my children, my home base is here. Can I travel that long? Can I be gone that long?” she said.

“But then I’m also thinking on the side, the other two moms that are in my group [Jen Affleck and Whitney Leavitt] are doing Dancing with the Stars and they brought their family out, but also they have their husbands, so for me I’m like, is this possible for me to do as a single mom?” continued Paul.

“Can I make it work realistically no matter how much I want this?,” she said. “And I was like, I can, if you want to you can and it comes down to that so I was just like, I will make it work … I can ask for help more.”
