Julia Fox quits project with ‘major A-list icon’ over director’s racism: ‘It was giving Proud Boy’

Julia Fox claims she quit a project with a “major A-list icon” over a “white man” director’s alleged racism during a conversation about diversity.
“OK, so the craziest thing just happened to me … so I’ve been attached to a project for five years. I’ve given creative contributions to it, emotional contributions to it, it was like my baby,” she began in a recent video posted to TikTok.
“I even brought on like a major, major A-list icon to play alongside me and everything was going great until this white man director came in.”
Fox, 34, claimed that the director — whom she did not name — attempted to kick her off the project after he was only there for “a week.”
“I had mentioned [to him] that I really thought it was important to have diversity in our cast and our lead cast,” she added. “And I took notes because he said, ‘Why? White people have it really hard, too. And plus, diversity casting is like using black people as puppets. White people don’t have a duty to cast black people because so many black projects happen — and Asian projects — and nobody gets mad that there’s no white people in the cast.’”
The “Uncut Gems” actress claimed the director told her to “‘turn on Netflix, turn on any streamers, it’s all black projects. Go to India, all the moves in India have all Indian people. Nobody gets mad that they don’t have diversity.’”
Fox said she told the director that “white people have been the default” up until now. However, the director stood firm on his beliefs.
“‘What are you talking about?’” she claimed he said. “‘Wake up, we are in 2024 — this isn’t 2005 or something.’”
The director’s comments did not sit well with Fox, who compared the unknown male to a member of a neo-fascist militant organization.
“It was giving Proud Boy, it was giving All Lives Matter, it was giving white supremacy, and at that point, I was done arguing,” she explained.
“And I said, ‘You know what? I can’t work with you, I’m done.’”
Fox refused to name the person she sounded off about because she didn’t want “to blow this whole thing” up for other people who are attached to the project.
On Sunday, the model gave an update on TikTok about the “racist” incident with the “failed actor who turned director.”
Fox said that after she outed the guy, she was told that he was removed from working on the project.
Fans praised the mom of one for standing up for her beliefs.
“Honestly babe – allyship is not easy, but real allies will do what you did. You’re a kween (sic) 💜,” commented one user.
“Good for you for standing on business and your principles/morals. Your good Karma for that will come! 👏💓,” added another.
“S/O to you for standing up. Another project will be coming ur way & it’ll be everything + more!!,” said another person, to which Fox responded, “I’m in 5 films this year!! I’m so busy anyway I don’t need this bs. They were lucky to have me and they will never have me again. Period.”
