Kamala Harris upgrades LA real estate portfolio with $8M mega mansion in Malibu’s celeb-packed Pt. Dume
Former Vice President Kamala Harris is upgrading her Los Angeles real estate portfolio, trading one celebrity-soaked neighborhood for another.
Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff recently dropped a little over $8 million ($8.15 million) on a 4,000-square-foot, four-bedroom, six-bathroom home in Point Dume, a neighborhood in Malibu that’s home to a who’s who of both Hollywood and — more recently — Silicon Valley power players, the California Post has learned.
In recent weeks several Point Dume residents have spotted Emhoff strolling through the neighborhood which rests on a 63-acre promontory perched above one of California’s most famous and exclusive beaches known as Little Dume.
Access to Little Dume, which boasts one of the most coveted surf breaks in all of California requires a special key that only a select group of Point Dume residents can possess.
While much of Malibu remains devastated by the one-two punch of the 2018 Woolsey Fire and the 2025 Palisades Fire, Point Dume is in relatively good shape compared to other parts of Malibu.
The neighborhood has long been one of the more desirable and expensive zip codes due to its large lots and the privacy it provides which has attracted a parade of A-list actors over the years including Sean Penn, Gerard Butler and Julia Roberts.
In recent years, the glitterati of Hollywood have had to make way for the titans of Silicon Valley including venture capitalist Marc Andreesen, Google co-founder Sergey Brin and Emerson Collective president Laureen Powell Jobs, who have been snatching up many of the area’s trophy properties.
Harris was born and raised in Northern California, but has made LA her primary residence ever since she married Emhoff in 2014.
They share a four-bedroom 3,500 square foot home in Brentwood that, according to The Wall Street Journal, Emhoff bought back in 2012 before he met Harris. The status of that house is unclear.
According to an online listing, Harris and Emhoff’s new home was originally built in 1979 sits on three quarters of an acre and has a main living area that “is bathed in natural light, featuring high wood-beamed ceilings, a built-in speaker system, and a gas fireplace.”
Compass’ Chris Cortazzo was the listing agent on the sale.
A representative for Harris declined to comment, and Cortazzo did not respond to a request for comment.
