Kate Middleton takes a school bus to art gallery as she adorably joins kindergartners on field trip
Kate Middleton takes kindergarten.
The Princess of Wales was seen riding on a school bus with students as they headed for a field trip to London’s National Portrait Gallery.
According to photos, the 43-year-old adorably walked off the bus and into the museum hand-in-hand with a girl named Grace to see the interactive Bobeam Tree Trail.
For the outing, Middleton wore pinstriped pants, a turtleneck sweater under a blazer and black heels.
The experience was “magical” for the little ones from All Souls Church of England Primary School, teacher Alix Ascough told People.
“It was an awe and wonder moment,” she gushed. “It’s what memories are made of.”
Ascough noted that Middleton was “so relaxed and animated” in a way that “felt really natural” when she “sat with children on the coach and chatted with them.”
The royal family member also played a “lovely, special” game of “I Spy” with the young classmates.
The director of learning and engagement at the gallery, Liz Smith, also praised “naturally nurturing” Middleton.
“[She] was listening and integrated with the group,” Smith told the outlet. “It was as if she was one of the mums, one of the helpers.”
The gallery trip marked Middleton’s first public appearance this month.
In January, she made headlines for visiting a children’s hospice in Sully and interacting with patients at the Royal Marsden Hospital.
The royal’s schedule is markedly different from this time last year when she underwent abdominal surgery and recovered away from the public eye.
Middleton’s cancer diagnosis was revealed in March 2024 — followed by an update six months later that she is cancer-free after completing chemotherapy.
To celebrate World Cancer Day on Monday, Middleton posted a triumphant photo via X of herself in the woods taken by her 6-year-old son, Prince Louis.
“Don’t forget to nurture all that which lies beyond the disease,” the three-time mom captioned the social media upload.
Middleton and husband Prince William are also the parents of Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 9.
The couple have been married since April 2011.
