Katie Couric slams Lauren Sánchez’s ‘tacky’ dress after $50M wedding to Jeff Bezos

She’s not saying yes to the dress.
Katie Couric slammed Lauren Sánchez’s “tacky” Dolce & Gabbana gown in a scathing Instagram comment after the latter wed billionaire Jeff Bezos in Venice, Italy, on Friday.
“Welcome to the eighties—when big hair and conspicuous consumption ruled,” the famed journalist wrote in an Instagram comment under a now-deleted post shared by John F. Kennedy’s grandson, Jack Schlossberg, per TMZ.
“Apparently tacky is back,” the “Going There” author, 68, added.
Schlossberg, 32, reposted an image of Sanchez’s Vogue cover, on which she stunned in a lace, long-sleeved dress.
“Like I said … vogue,” the son of Caroline Kennedy reportedly captioned the post.
In response to Couric’s shady comment, Schlossberg replied, “Let’s bring back scrunchies.”
While it’s unknown exactly why Couric shaded the newlywed, one fan responded that the former “Today” host is salty she wasn’t invited to the $50 million nuptials.
“I’m guessing you aren’t invited, Katie lol,” the netizen quipped.
Page Six has reached out to a rep for Sánchez for comment but did not immediately hear back.
On Friday, Sánchez, 55, and Bezos, 61, exchanged vows in a star-studded wedding ceremony on the San Giorgio Maggiore island.
Several stars attended the nuptials, including Kim Kardashian, Sydney Sweeney, Tom Brady, Khloé Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bill Gates, Barbara Streisand and a newly single Orlando Bloom.
In an interview with Vogue, Sánchez said her turtleneck wedding gown was inspired by the dress Sophia Loren wore in 1958’s “Houseboat” to marry Cary Grant.
“It went from ‘I want a simple, sexy modern dress’ to ‘I want something that evokes a moment,’ and where I am right now. I am a different person than I was five years ago,” she shared.
“I researched pictures of brides in the 1950s. I wanted to reflect back, and I saw Sophia Loren and her hands were [in a prayer position] and she was in high lace, up to the neck, and I said, ‘That’s it. That’s the dress.’”
The “Fly Who Flew to Space” author predicted that people would be surprised by the covered-up look.
“It is a departure from what people expect,” she told Vogue, “from what I expect—but it’s very much me.”
