Katie Lowes Teases How ‘The Hunting Wives’ Season 2 Blows Season 1 ‘Out of the Park’ (Exclusive)
Katie Lowes is just like Us — she wants to know everything that happens in season 2 of The Hunting Wives.
“They’re shooting right now!” Lowes, 43, exclusively told Us Weekly at Hilarity for Charity’s Friendsgiving event on Saturday, November 16. “Stay tuned if or when or not, I will be there.”
Lowes, who played Jill on the hit Netflix series, teased that “anything” is possible.
“Here’s what I can tell you — the cast is some of my best friends in the world so I know what’s happening, whether or not I can tell you I’m there or not,” she teased. “They’re stuck with me for life.”
Taking inspiration from May Cobb’s book of the same name, The Hunting Wives, which premiered in July, follows Sophie (Brittany Snow) as she finds herself wrapped up in socialite Margo’s (Malin Åkerman) orbit. Sophie befriends Margo’s circle of housewives, but their dangerous secrets lead to a shocking murder leaving Sophie as the prime suspect.
In a big change from the book it was based on, the hit Netflix series made Abby’s killer Margo (Åkerman) instead of Jill (Lowes). Following the reveal, the show strayed from the source material by killing off Jill.
“I just want to see everybody devastated that Jill is dead. I want to see Reverend Clint and Brad just absolutely lose their s*** that their mother is gone,” Lowes quipped to Us. “Am I wrong? [Also] more sex! I’m always going to vote for that.”
Before weighing in on season 2, Lowes previously spoke about adapting her character for the screen.
“I started reading the book and I quickly had to put it down when we started shooting. I was starting to get confused over the Jill that existed in the book and the Jill that Rebecca Cutter was putting on the show,” she shared with Us in August. “I had to put the book down and just really focus on this story and the job that I was doing with this version of Jill.”
Lowes continued: “Knowing that Margo was 1763579825 going to be the killer and Jill was going to die, I was like, ‘OK, let’s just focus on the TV show and get that done so that my brain doesn’t get confused.’”
Lowes took a break from work to join husband Adam Shapiro at the fundraiser.
“I lost two people — one to dementia and one to Alzheimer’s. We’re also dear friends with Seth [Rogen] and Lauren [Miller],” she explained. “Something so dark and awful and painful — bringing joy and comedy and hilarity to it is so appreciated. It’s our favorite party of the year.”
The actress has advocated for the cause in the past, adding, “I raised $30,000 for Hilarity for Charity [on Wheel of Fortune]. … Knowledge is power and if there’s anything you can do, testing wise with your doctors to know what you’re up against. Brain health can be genetic but it can also be environmental and lifestyle so you have to be battling it on all fronts.”
The Hunting Wives is currently streaming on Netflix.
