Katie Price thought she’d bought her dream home – but her infamous ‘Mucky Mansion’ has been anything but.
The former glamour model, 45, could say goodbye to her West Sussex home before the end of this month after being slapped with a second eviction notice on her property. It comes after reports suggested that Katie was facing a “real risk” of losing her abode due to escalating financial difficulties.
The mum-of-five snapped up the residence back in 2014 for a cool £1.3million and it featured in her Channel 4 renovation show after falling into disrepair. Over the years, the mansion – which boasts a triple garage, indoor pool and cinema room – has fallen victim to thieves, alleged ghosts and dodgy builders.
Hit with eviction notice
The bankrupt mum-of-five, 45, was hit with an eviction notice for her notorious Mucky Mansion last week and given just days to vacate the premises. A second has since appeared outside the former glamour model’s home, dated 3rd May 2024, which warns the star she has just days to prevent her property from being seized.
A snapshot of the first eviction letter, dated April 24th, 2024, reveals that “the eviction will take place on May 29th, 2024, at 10am”, giving the embattled celebrity a mere fortnight to clear out. The eviction order from Horsham County Court, addressed to both Katie and “any other occupiers”, commands her “to arrange to leave the property with [her] belongings before this time and date”.
Back in March, Katie defiantly claimed that her ‘Mucky Mansion’ was safe despite her financial troubles, telling her followers: “You’ve followed my life, my journey, I say it as it is. Yes, I’m in a bankruptcy. But guess what? I own my house. No one could take it off me as well.” That same month, however, the High Court decided that Katie would have to hand over half of her monthly earnings.
Joshua Harris from Harris and Partners, serving as Bankruptcy Trustee, commented: “Price faces the risk of losing her £2million property, which highlights the severe realities of bankruptcy.” He continued, stressing the gravity of the situation: “In situations of substantial debt, asset repossession is a real threat, used by creditors to recover what they are owed. Not settling financial duties can lead to severe outcomes, including the loss of valuable assets and further financial hardship.”
‘House of Horrors’
Last year, the Mirror revealed Katie put her eight-bedroom West Sussex home up for rent, asking for a whopping £6,000 per month from potential tenants. “Katie is actively looking to move out and rent something new and modern. She hates the Mucky Mansion – often referring to it as the House of Horrors!” a source said.
They added: “She claims she cannot sleep alone there as it’s haunted by the ‘grey lady’ on the top floor – not a great sell for prospective renters. The property listing has not even had a nibble!” Pictures showed the bathroom has a slight mould issue and bags and cardboard boxes were seen in corners, with Katie’s kids’ rooms still filled with her children’s items.
Creepy ‘ghosts’
Back in 2018, Katie filmed footage of a ‘demon’ and ‘ghost child’ in one of her mirrors inside the Mucky Mansion – even going on to hire a ‘ghost hunter’ to get to the bottom of the eerie sighting. Then in 2023, she called in ghostbusters once again after claiming she saw a ‘little boy’ haunting the top floor of her Horsham District home.
Katie admitted her famous house was “definitely haunted” in 2021, when she opened up about spooky happenings on The Fellas podcast. She confessed: “It’s definitely haunted. I took a picture of a little boy sitting on my top floor. I’ve got pictures of a guy going through the mirror. I videoed it all. And me talking to a candle flame and it responding. I’m telling you. My whole life is nuts. I’ve had my friends in tears when I’ve brought up stuff about them that I didn’t know by talking to the candle.”
Tragic death of dog
In December 2023, Katie claimed she knew who killed one of her pet dogs – alleging the suspect also set fire to a car near her home and vandalised the gates of her mansion. She says her German Shepherd, named Blade, was killed intentionally by someone that she knew, but did not publicly name the individual.
Blade sadly died in 2020 after he escaped Katie’s mansion in Sussex and was killed on the A24. But Katie doesn’t think it was an accident. She told The Sun: “They killed my dog and dragged him to the road,” adding: “Just like they set a car alight at the top of my driveway and vandalised my gates.”
Katie previously said: “Somebody has killed my dog on purpose as an attack against me I’m investigating it.” She added: “Words can’t express the lost of my best friend my protector my absolutely everything who had sadly passed away today I have no words to say how I’m feeling but numb and shocked rip Blade.”
Ransacked by thieves
Back in February 2021, Katie chillingly discovered she had been burgled at her mansion. Thieves had taken her hard drives and personal photos and wrecked the property, causing thousands of pounds of damage to her new kitchen. At the time, she was living with her ex-boyfriend Carl Woods at his home in Essex.
A source told The Sun: “She is fearful that whoever has done this has a vendetta against her and even thinks it could be linked to her standing up against social media bullying trolls. This crime was committed to cause as much impact and personal upset as possible to Katie.”
Katie filmed herself going back to her house for the first time in months in a video posted to her YouTube channel. She said: “This house was burgled. So much s*** has gone. Even hard drives have gone. Oh well, if anyone wants to go through my old photos go for it. If it makes you feel good.”
Rancid sewage leaks
Katie faced a build-up of rancid sewage water at her West Sussex mansion in November 2020. The septic tank first began leaking in 2019, five years after she bought the property, according to MailOnline. During the renovation work, the tennis courts were used as a work site and the outdoor pool was neglected and filled with stale water.
Speaking to the Mirror one month prior, Katie vowed never to return to her decrepit mansion. She said: “The doctors from The Priory have said that my house, mentally, is a place I can’t ever go back to because there’s too many memories. It’s sad because it could be such an amazing place, but no I’m done with it.”
