  • Kelsea Ballerini and Maren Morris posted a TikTok together to the tune of “Girl, so confusing” by Charli xcx featuring Lorde
  • Some fans suspect the TikTok hints at a collaboration
  • The country stars have been friends for years and were both nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys in 2017

Kelsea Ballerini and Maren Morris are joining forces in a new TikTok.

In the fun video, shared on Wednesday, July 2, Ballerini, 31, and Morris, 35, face each other before strutting down a brick walkway side by side. The video was soundtracked by the remix of Charli xcx’s hit song “Girl, so confusing,” featuring Lorde. The country star duo specifically walked together during Lorde’s verse of the hyperpop track.

Fans of the country music starlets made guesses about whether the TikTok means a collaboration between the two is on the way. “So ready for whatever this means,” one user wrote in the comment section.

Another wrote, “it’s so confusing sometimes to be a girl in country music or whatever charli and lorde said.”

“This is so important to my culture,” another user quipped.

“Girl, so confusing” marked the first collaboration between Lorde and Charli xcx and was inspired by complicated moments in their friendship. This led some TikTok users to suspect that Ballerini and Morris are teasing a collaboration.

The longtime friends have continued to support each other’s careers. In 2017, both were nominated for the same Grammy Award for Best New Artist.

“That’s not how we roll — not in this town,” Morris said at a 2017 Nashville party to honor the city’s Grammy nominees. “I think we run all the jerks out pretty quick. … Even though we’re going to be going against each other for this award, there’s just a camaraderie there. If there is competition, it’s a healthy one.”

Ballerini then backed up her philosophy. “When the Grammy nominations came out, Maren was the first text I got,” the “Baggage” singer said at the time.

The text said: “We’re bringing Nashville to the Grammys!” to which Ballerini responded, “Yes, let’s bring all the sparkles!”

Ballerini most recently released the deluxe version of her album Patterns on March 7. Morris released her most recent album D R E A M S I C L E on May 9.
