Kelsea Ballerini’s Gown Is Even Better from the Back: See Her Latest Show-Stopping Red Carpet Moment

Kelsea Ballerini shut down the red carpet at the 2024 Fashion Trust Awards.
On Tuesday, April 9, the country singer, 30, appeared at the second-annual event in a black lace gown with an array of jaw-dropping details.
The star-studded affair was hosted by Zooey Deschanel sponsored in part by Casamigos. According to the organization’s website, the Fashion Trust U.S. is “a nonprofit initiative dedicated to discovering, funding, and nurturing young design talent with the aim of helping them build their label into a thriving global brand.”
Ballerini stole the show in a sheer black lace Zuhair Murad gown with a high neckline and sexy open back detail. The show-stopping creation also featured trumpet sleeves, a dramatic train and corset detail. Ballerini accessorized with black platform heels and black hoop earrings with lace-like details.
She kept her glam chic and simple with a sleek side-parted chignon hairstyle and natural makeup look.
The stunning look comes days after the Grammy-nominated star defended her no-pants look at the 2024 CMT Awards. As host of the April 7 award show, Ballerini underwent a whopping nine outfit changes. For her performance of a reimagined version of her 2014 hit “Love Me Like You Mean It,” which was pre-taped at the University of Texas, a few days in advance, the singer sported a gold bodysuit over tights and sky-high heels.
After receiving backlash for taking the stage sans pants, Ballerini hit back at the haters in a TikTok video. In the clip, the singer is getting her glam touched up backstage and repeats one of the comments she saw about her outfit: “You forgot your pants during your performance.”
“Shut up. No I didn’t,” she responds. “It looked hot. Period. Bye.”
Fans were quick to back her up in the comments section. “Your outfits were on POINT boo!” one wrote.

At the award show’s close, Ballerini shared that it would be her last time hosting (the April 7 ceremony marked her fourth time since 2021 and first time hosting solo).
“There’s something about this show, in particular, that feels like a summer party,” she told PEOPLE ahead of the event. “Everyone backstage is ‘cheers’-ing each other and running into each other’s dressing rooms. That’s the energy that I want to bring on screen and into the room.”
