Kevin Durant’s comeback quips about his ashy skin are, well, smooth.

The NBA star, 37, hilariously slammed critics who poked fun at him for his dry skin after a photo of his cracked legs went viral during a game in a comedic video shared by the Houston Rockets forward on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

In the clip, Durant rattled off several tweets that referenced his ashy skin while promoting his partnership with CeraVe, responding to the critics’ takes online with justified explanations of each — and a healthy dose of a good sense of humor.

“Y’all keep bringing up my legs… might be time to address it with @cerave?” he captioned his post alongside the video.

In the first tweet Durant read in the clip, the X user begged him to “please” put some lotion on his legs, to which the basketball icon responded: “Why are you actually watching my legs so closely, brother?”

Durant read a second tweet that referenced a viral photo of Durant’s dry ankles from 2021.

“I had 35 on 12 shots that night,” the athlete clapped back in the video, adding, “That is way more important than my ashy ankles.”

A third tweet made KD laugh.

“Next time u take a matter into ur own hands, make sure it’s lotion,” the user wrote on X. To which the stumped hooper replied, “That’s actually pretty funny. I don’t have a reply to that.”

The now-viral photo of Durant’s dry legs wasn’t the only thing that fueled critics online. In December 2025, the athlete spotlighted his appearance during a conversation with his teammate, Fred VanVleet, on his Unguarded podcast.

“I really used to care at one point about like, ‘Man, let me get a [haircut] this week. Then after a while, I was like, ‘I’m way more relaxed when I’m just not giving a f—.’ I just stopped getting cut. Stopped lotioning,” he said on the show.

Later on the episode, Durant admitted that he doesn’t shower daily.

“I shower,” he said. “I might go two days sometimes without hopping in that water, wait til I get to the gym,” explaining, “If I’m sitting in the house, I might just want to go musty for a couple days… I just like to feel close to the trenches like that.”
