Kevin Federline details Britney Spears’ ‘bizarre’ behavior moments before shaving head

Kevin Federline is detailing what exactly happened in the “bizarre” moments before his ex-wife Britney Spears infamously shaved her head in 2007.

In his upcoming memoir, “You Thought You Knew,” the former backup dancer alleges that Spears “showed up at the gate, ringing the bell and shouting a bunch of things that didn’t make sense” after checking herself out of rehab.

“The only words that came through clearly were: LET. ME. IN. Over and over again,” Federline, 47, recalls, per an excerpt obtained by E! News.

“Then she started climbing the front gate,” he adds. “I stayed inside with the kids, trying to keep things calm. I couldn’t stand to see her like this.”

Because Spears was allegedly “in no condition to be around our kids,” security turned her away.

“It was the right thing to do,” he says. “I couldn’t let her see them. They wouldn’t have understood why their mom was looking and acting so bizarrely, and I didn’t want to scare them.”

K-Fed shares sons Sean Preston and Jayden James — who were 2 and 1 years old, respectively, at the time — with Spears.

It was after he wouldn’t let her into their home that the “Toxic” singer made her way to a local salon, where she asked a stylist to shave her head.

“When the stunned stylist turned her down, Britney took matters into her own hands, grabbing an electric clipper and shaving her own head,” Federline continues of the viral moment. “Eventually, she drove down the street to a gas station.

“That’s where things escalated, the infamous ‘umbrella incident’—when she grabbed an umbrella and started swinging it at the paparazzi. They were having a field day. The photos from that moment wound up everywhere — her shaved head, the wild look in her eyes.”

He further reflects that it was the “exact energy” Spears had shown outside of his Tarzana, Calif., home.

“Seeing those photos later, I thought: This is what I was dealing with,” he concludes.

Spears and Federline — who got married in 2004 and welcomed two children throughout their marriage — were in the midst of divorcing after just two years.

In her 2023 memoir, “The Woman In Me,” the “Circus” songstress revealed why she shaved her head, saying, “I’d been eyeballed so much growing up.

“I’d been looked up and down, had people telling me what they thought of my body, since I was a teenager,” she wrote. “Shaving my head and acting out were my ways of pushing back.”

The Princess of Pop also noted that she was going through bouts of postpartum depression on top of her ongoing divorce and being kept away from her children.

In 2008, she was placed under a strict conservatorship led by her father, Jamie Spears, where she no longer had a say in her day-to-day life. (The conservatorship ended in 2021.)

“I was made to understand that those days were now over,” she shared. “I had to grow my hair out and get back into shape. I had to go to bed early and take whatever medication they told me to take.”

As Federline’s memoir is set to release on Oct. 21, Spears’ rep slammed the book, telling Page Six, “With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin.

“All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir.”

Spears, 43, also criticized the memoir herself in an Instagram post, writing, “The constant gaslighting from ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting.”

She continued, “I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys. Relationships with teenage boys is complex. I have felt demoralized by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life.”

She went on to claim that their sons “have always witnessed the lack of respect shown by own [sic] father for me” before alleging that “one son” had only seen her for “45 min in the past year” and the other only had “four visits in the past five years” with her.

“I have pride too,” the songstress wrote. “From now on I will let them know when I am available. Trust me, those white lies in that book, they are going straight to the bank and I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here.”

“I am actually a pretty intelligent woman who has been trying to live a sacred and private life the past five years. I speak on this because I have had enough and any real woman would do the same.”

Aside from the head-shaving incident, Federline reflected on why their sons are allegedly scared of the singer and why he thinks she’s racing towards a tragic end in his memoir.

He also detailed a time Spears allegedly cheated on him with a female backup dancer and when he caught her speaking to ex Justin Timberlake ahead of their wedding.
