Kevin Federline continues to share more details about his divorce from Britney Spears.

Federline, 47, is releasing his new memoir, You Thought You Knew, on Oct. 21, and revealed more information about the former couple’s relationship, co-parenting and divorce.

The couple married in September 2004, and Spears filed for divorce in November 2006. During their marriage, they welcomed two sons: Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19.

In the memoir, Federline claimed that he was awarded $20,000 per month in child support for their two sons. He was also awarded another $20,000 per month in alimony for half the duration of their 26-month marriage, he says. While Federline doesn’t reveal exactly how much he received in total from his divorce to Spears, 43, it was alleged to be in the $1-1.3 million range, per Page Six.

Federline wrote in his book that he signed a “pretty standard” prenup with Spears. He said that he didn’t think they needed a prenup, because he “wasn’t some bum just sitting around waiting for a check.” Adding that before their marriage, he “was out there hustling, grinding, investing [and] working.”

Federline added of his divorce settlement with Spears, “People hear figures like that and think you’re financially set. But the reality is far from that. Explaining that his various expenses to raise two kids in Los Angeles — rent, transportation, security, childcare — didn’t allow the money to “stretch as far as you’d think.”

He elaborated on the costs of raising his two sons, writing, “Raising two young boys in Los Angeles, while maintaining the security and stability they needed, came with a price tag that would make anyone’s head spin.”

Meanwhile, Spears explained in her 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, that to see her kids as much as possible, she “did everything [she] could to appease Kevin.” She claimed she paid Federline’s legal bills, child support and “thousands more a month so the kids could come along with me on the Circus tour.”

She said it was a sacrifice she was “willing to make.”

“There is nothing I love more — nothing more important to me on this earth — than my children. I’d lay down my life for them,” she wrote.

Since Federline has been promoting his book, Spears’ representative told PEOPLE that, “once again [Federline] and others are profiting off her and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin.”

“All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James and their well-being during this sensationalism,” the statement read. “She detailed her journey in her memoir.”

Spears issued statements to her X profile, saying she’s “had enough” of Federline “constantly gaslighting” her. In her X post on Wednesday, Oct. 15, she also defended her relationship with her sons.

“I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys,” Spears wrote. “Relationships with teenage boys is complex. I have felt demoralized by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life.”

On Thursday, Oct. 16, she issued another statement on X about her allegations that he is using the opportunity to “profit” from her pain. “To be loved unconditionally and with a naive heart like mine, always being threatened or made to believe I’m the bad one as they profit off my pain…” her post read.

Following Spears’ statements, Federline has denied the claims that he’d only published his book for money. “I think if you read the book and you’ll see that over the course of my life, I’ve realized what matters to me most, and it’s definitely not money,” he said in an interview with Extra. “My family means more to me than anything money could ever buy.”
