Kevin McKidd and Kim Raver are leaving “Grey’s Anatomy” after the Season 22 finale that will air May 7, ABC announced on Wednesday.

Their exits are said to be a creative decision, a source told Variety.

“Grey’s Anatomy has been a huge chapter of my life, creatively and personally, and I’m deeply grateful for everything the show has given me over the years,” McKidd, 52, told Page Six in a statement Wednesday.

“Playing Dr. Owen Hunt and directing on the show have both shaped me enormously, and I’ve had the privilege of working with an extraordinary group of people throughout that time.”

He went on to praise creator Shonda Rhimes “for creating Owen, and for the encouragement she gave me as I stepped into directing.”

“As that chapter comes to a close, I’m looking forward to what’s ahead — building new work, telling new stories, and taking everything I’ve learned into the next phase of my career.”

Raver, 57, said that her role as Dr. Teddy Altman “will always hold a dear and special place in my heart.”

“Sixteen years ago, I had the incredible privilege of stepping into this role thanks to the vision of Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers,” the actress continued. “Since that day, it has been a true gift to bring the iconic words of Shonda and our brilliant team of writers to life.”

Raver also thanked fans for their “unwavering devotion and support” that has helped make the show “such a force” after over 20 years.

Rhimes, 56, said in a statement that McKidd and Raver brought “extraordinary talent, nuance and heart” to their characters.

The TV producer added, “Their contributions leave an indelible mark on ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ both in front of and behind the camera. I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with them both and to see them shine.”

Rhimes also promised that Owen and Teddy will get “the happy ending their story deserves.”

McKidd joined “Grey’s Anatomy” in Season 5 (2008), while Raver was welcomed to the cast the following season.

Raver left the show at the end of Season 8, but then she returned as a guest star in Season 14 before rejoining the main cast in Season 15.

Both actors have also directed multiple episodes of the show. McKidd will direct their final episode.

Owen and Teddy, both ex-Army majors, were involved in a love triangle with Sandra Oh’s Cristina Yang in their early seasons. Oh exited the series after Season 10 in 2014.

The couple got married in Season 18, but they later ended up divorced after failed attempts to have an open marriage.

The Season 22 cast also includes Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr., Caterina Scorsone, Camilla Luddington, Jason George, Chris Carmack, Anthony Hill, Alexis Floyd, Harry Shum Jr. and Adelaide Kane.

“Grey’s Anatomy” airs Thursdays at 10 pm ET on ABC.
