Kim Kardashian ignores PETA backlash by sharing photos of her kids’ 4 new puppies
Kim Kardashian showed off her four Pomeranian puppies she gave each of her kids for Christmas, despite PETA harshly critiquing her gift.
The Skims co-founder posted two group pics of the tiny dogs on her Instagram Saturday, all four puppies seated beside each other.
“welcome to the fam,” she wrote.
Her celebrity friends gushed over the pics, including Vanessa Bryant, who commented, “Omg. They’re so cute! 🥰.”
But some comments criticized her, with one reading, “girl u do not need 4 dogs.”
Another comment reads, “I hope I see these dogs in 10-15 years with you ugh.”
Back in December when Kardashian revealed her controversial gift to her kids, PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk called the decision “callous.”
“Puppies are not plushies, and it’s a damn shame that Kim missed the chance to be a spokesperson for shelter pups and instead is being rightly slammed on social media for that,” Newkirk told the Daily Mail.
“Ignoring the homeless animals crisis is inexcusably callous,” she added, urging Kardashian “to call PETA or a local shelter the next time [she] wants to bring an animal into [her] home.”
Kardashian shares four kids — North West, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 6 — with her ex-husband, Kanye West.
She first shared a pic of the puppies on her Instagram Stories, writing, “Each kid got a puppy.”
This isn’t the first time Kardashian, 45, has caused controversy when it comes to owning dogs.
She came under fire in December 2022 when she posted and deleted a TikTok video appearing to show her two Pomeranians, Sushi and Sake, living in her garage.
She showed off the pups’ Christmasy setup — which included stockings as well as mini Christmas trees — and the video also captured the dogs prancing around the garage in tiny coats next to their large pen and pee pads.
The video was deleted after backlash poured in.
“They have acres of land but they keep dogs in their garage smh,” one comment on the video read.
“probably bc it doesn’t fit the ‘aesthetic’ lol,” quipped one user.
