King Charles and Queen Camilla reveal 2024 Christmas card amid monarch’s cancer battle
King Charles III and Queen Camilla unveiled their 2024 Christmas card after a grueling year with the monarch’s cancer battle.
The royals were all smiles as they posed in the Gardens of Buckingham Palace for the photo taken in April, per the royal family’s Instagram.
Charles, 76, sported a gray suit, white button-up shirt and blue tie, while Camilla, 77, rocked a blue long-sleeve dress.
“Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and New Year,” the card read.
The couple’s season greetings come nine months after Buckingham Palace announced Charles had been diagnosed with cancer when he underwent a “routine hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement.”
At the time, his majesty had postponed public events as he completed regular treatments.
“[Charles] is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure,” the statement from the palace read.
“He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.”
In April, Charles returned to his royal duties, kicking off his many public appearances by visiting a cancer treatment center to meet with patients and medical specialists.
“In addition, The King and Queen will host Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress of Japan for a State Visit in June, at the request of HM Government,” Buckingham Palace released in a statement.
“Their Majesties remain deeply grateful for the many kindnesses and good wishes they have received from around the world throughout the joys and challenges of the past year.”
Charles and Camilla took the throne in May 2023 after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September 2022.
Charles’ cancer battle came amid his daughter-in-law Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis following her abdominal surgery in January.
The Princess of Wales, 42, announced her diagnosis in March, as she became the center of several conspiracy theories regarding her marriage to Prince William.
At the time, Middleton stepped out of the public eye as she sought treatment, but slowly resumed her duties when she attended the Trooping the Colour parade in June.
After nine months of chemotherapy, the mom of three revealed in September that she’d completed her cancer treatment.
