Kody Brown Annoys Teammates Brianna LaPaglia and Shawn Johnson on ‘Special Forces’ (Exclusive)
Kody Brown‘s devotion to Special Forces challenges seemingly made it harder for him to build friendships on the show.
In Us Weekly‘s exclusive preview of the Thursday, November 13, episode of the Fox show, Kody, 56, is paired off with Brianna LaPaglia and Shawn Johnson East, but things don’t appear to be going well for the recruits.
“I have great relationships with some people and not-so-great relationships with others,” he shares in a confessional. “But what other people think about me has never been important enough for me to change.”
Kody’s consistent questions keep bothering Brianna, 26, and Shawn, 33. They urge the Sister Wives star to “stay together,” but the challenge only gets more tense. (As viewers already know, Kody has often been left out in season 4 as his fellow recruits poke fun at him behind his back.)
Special Forces, which premiered in 2023, puts contestants through harsh, military-style training based on actual Special Forces selection processes. They face intense physical and mental challenges designed to push their limits.
Kody is one of many reality TV stars making up the season 4 cast of Special Forces. At this point in the competition, Brianna, Andrew East, Shawn, Randall Cobb and Gia Giudice are still in the running for the victory.
Before the season premiere, Kody exclusively opened up to Us about some of the battles he personally faced while competing on the show.
“There was one time when my muscles gave out,” he said in September. “We were supposed to be swinging across monkey bars, and I had sand on my hands, and I couldn’t cup the monkey bars. I just didn’t have the strength anymore to do it.”
Kody recalled the Directing Staff (DS) instructors trying to haze the recruits.
“I don’t even know what they call the punishment,” he shared. “We’re standing and I’ve been in this water, and I started to shiver. I don’t want the DS [to see] that. I don’t want them seeing any signs of weakness because they’ll play on that.”
At the time, Kody shared a story about leaning into a fake wheeze to make it seem like he was hitting his limit.
“When we had been just run ragged, [I was] wheezing, and it was a little bit fake,” he told Us. “I figured if they thought I was really working hard, they wouldn’t try to push me more, and I might need some energy for later. So, I’m sitting there doing press-ups, and I’m, like, wheezing.”
Kody added: “I knew that my limits physically were never reached. I had more to give physically.”
Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test season 4 airs on Fox Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET.
