Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard allow daughters Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 10, to use curse words — under one condition

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard allow their young children to use swear words — but only in the privacy of their own home.
On Monday’s episode of his “Armchair Expert” podcast, Shepard revealed the cursing parameters that he and his wife have for daughters Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 10.
“I fully swear in front of my kids,” the podcast host admitted to guest Seth Meyers. “They are allowed to swear [but] not with impunity.”
Shepard, 50, explained that the little ones can use expletives “when it’s called for” — but only inside their house and “not out at a restaurant.”
The “Parenthood” star underscored that he is teaching his girls about the power of language.
“My defense of it is, I just told the girls, like, ‘Hey, these are noises that come out of your mouth, and you assign what they mean to you,’” he said.
On the flip side, Meyers told Shepard that he and his wife, Alexi Ashe, try to prevent their sons — Ashe, 9, and Axel, 7 — from swearing.
“For us, it’s the fear that they’re gonna take it to school,” the “Late Night with Seth Meyers” host added.
Meyers, 51, went on to say that he believes it’s a lot easier to prevent girls from swearing in school than it is for little boys. He said that swearing definitely exists in school and just doesn’t want his kids to be the ones dropping F-bombs around a teacher.
Meanwhile, Bell, 45, has previously admitted that she and Shepherd’s daughters can be potty-mouthed.
When asked about her children learning the F-word during a 2020 interview on “Strahan, Sara & Keke,” the actress explained, “It’s fine.”
She continued, “They’ve known it before, but we’ve been the type of parents that never react. You can’t.”
The “Frozen” star explained that she and Shepard “don’t edit” themselves around their kids.
When their offspring asked about using bad words, Bell said that Shepard had the best response.
“He said, ‘Listen, you’re a kid. There are a lot of things that you can’t do until you’re an adult. One of them is drive my car, one of them is drink alcohol, vote and say swear words. It’s as simple as that.’”
Bell, who married Shepard in 2013, said their kids couldn’t argue with that logic.
Cleary, they are now permitted to use four-letter words — as long as it’s not in public!
