Kristen Bell dragged for ‘tone-deaf’ anniversary post to husband Dax Shepard

Kristen Bell is getting dragged for an “unbelievably tone-deaf” anniversary post to her husband, Dax Shepard.

The actress took to Instagram over the weekend to commemorate the couple’s 12th wedding anniversary by sharing a sweet photo showing her giving the actor a big bear hug while the two sat on their bed.

Bell, 45, captioned the snap, “Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: ‘I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would.’ ❤️.”

The sentiments angered many commenters, as several pointed out that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

“just an fyi, posting this caption during domestic violence awareness month is unbelievably tone deaf :/ please reconsider,” one critic urged.

“Thats a wildly sad and insensitive thing to say considering it’s domestic violence awareness month and thousands of women have died a the hands of the man they trusted…” another pointed out.

“Kristen there’s no way you posted this during domestic violence awareness month 😭,” a third penned in disbelief.

Others reminded Bell that spousal abuse “isn’t a joke” or something to take lightly, with one noting, “to post this and call it sweet or a joke is wild to me.”

Someone else wrote, “Please keep in mind that this is something real that lots of people suffer on a daily basis. And the text could be triggering for victims.”

Another dissenter wondered, “How can any self respecting woman stay with a man who ‘jokes’ like that? I’m not even a very serious person, but that would have me leaving so fast your head would spin.”

Others called the message “weird” and “disturbing,” and it even left one fan “question[ing Bell] as a person.”

However, a handful of supporters defended the movie star and called her critics “too sensitive.”

Bell’s reps did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

She and Shepard, 50, wed in October 2013. They share daughters Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 10.
