Kristen Bell forgot Dax Shepard wedding anniversary before ‘tone-deaf’ post

Kristen Bell forgot her and Dax Shepard’s wedding anniversary the day before she commemorated the occasion with what critics argued was a “tone-deaf” post.

In a red carpet interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” filmed last Thursday, the reporter said to Bell, “Tomorrow, Friday, is…”

Confused, the actress replied, “The beginning of the weekend?”

The reporter laughed and let out a “shoot,” prompting a still-confused Bell to ask, “What is it?”

“October 17th…” the reporter said slowly, to which Bell replied, “…is…the…”

Upon realizing the date, she squealed, “Oh, my God! It’s my anniversary!”

Bell, 45, went on to explain, “You know I don’t remember that. Oh, shoot. I’m so glad that you told me.”

The moment jogged her memory, as she shared that she and the actor, whom she wed in 2013, were actually “having a date night tomorrow.”

“Wow, what a curveball you threw me,” she later admitted. “It helps that he doesn’t remember either. And, like, no one’s at fault here, right? We’re just, like, not great with dates.”

Over the weekend, the actress took to Instagram to share a sweet photo showing her giving Shepard, 50, a big bear hug while the two sat on their bed.

“Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: ‘I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would.’ ❤️,” she captioned the snap.

The “unbelievably tone-deaf” and “insensitive” sentiments angered many commenters, as several pointed out that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Others reminded Bell that spousal abuse “isn’t a joke” or something to take lightly.

Many called the message “weird” and “disturbing,” and it even left one fan “question[ing Bell] as a person.”

Someone also wondered, “How can any self respecting woman stay with a man who ‘jokes’ like that? I’m not even a very serious person, but that would have me leaving so fast your head would spin.”

However, a handful of supporters defended the star and called her critics “too sensitive.”

Reps for Bell — who shares daughters Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 10, with Shepard — did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
