Kristin Cavallari’s NHL Player Ex Nate Thompson Reacts to Their ‘Deep’ Fling Being Revealed

Kristin Cavallari’s former beau is breaking his silence after she revealed his identity months after their relationship ended.
Retired NHL player Nate Thompson opened up on the April 1 episode of his Energy Line podcast hours after Cavallari, 38, confirmed the pair had what she called “one of the deeper relationships I’ve had.”
Thompson, 40, said he “knew it was a matter of time before things became public” about their history and that it was totally “fine” that she’d shared things.
“That’s her world, that’s what she does, and her podcast, obviously, as you know, is pretty big, and she talks about her relationships, so I knew it was probably gonna come out, eventually. I have nothing bad to say about Kristin. She’s a really, really good person and great mom and yeah, it was fun.”
Cavallari had revealed she was seeing a retired athlete during a December episode of Bunnie Xo’s podcast, calling Thompson a “good guy” who “checks all the boxes.”
Thompson said Cavallari is “a cool person” and they “had a good time” but it “just didn’t work out,” noting that he has “nothing bad to say” about her.
“Kristin’s a really good person,” he said. “She’s very genuine, too. People can say what they want about her but she is a good person. She’s a great mom. She hustles, she does her thing, so I got a lot of respect for her and how she handles herself with everything she has to deal with, obviously, being in the limelight.”
The pair met over Instagram, he revealed, and he reached out to her first, got her phone number and then visited her in Nashville several times.
“We had a lot in common, she’s a single parent, I am too. Obviously, we don’t live in the same city, so that dynamic changed things. I went there a couple times, saw her. I was with her for New Year’s,” he recalled.
As far as Cavallari’s confession that their connection was on a very deep level, Thompson said, “We told each other a lot of things in a short amount of time, and we were pretty open and honest about a lot of stuff.”
Like the reality TV star said, though, he agreed that things between them weren’t too serious. “We had a connection in the short time that we talked or hung out, or whatever you wanna call it. I wouldn’t have called her my girlfriend.”
Thompson, who retired from the NHL in 2022, also admitted that he’d “watched a little bit of Laguna Beach” when it was airing and “definitely liked her on Laguna Beach.”
“I think every guy thinks Kristin Cavallari is hot, for the most part. She is. She’s a very good-looking girl.”

Thompson was most recently linked to Jeremy Renner’s ex-wife Sonni Pacheco, with whom he shares daughter Wylder Rayne, and has been married twice.
Cavallari dated TikTok star Mark Estes for seven months last year and before that was married to Jay Cutler, with whom she shares her three kids, from 2013 to 2020.
