Lady Gaga Gets Emotional Over Fiance Michael’s Sweet Pre-Concert Pep Talk: ‘Let Them Fill You Up’

Lady Gaga has met her perfect match in fiancé Michael Polansky.
Gaga, 39, told the crowd at her Friday, August 22, performance in New York City that Polansky, 41, has helped her believe in herself again.
“I think about walking on the concrete, going all around the city and just — I remember fighting really hard, fighting really hard for my dreams and what I believed in and for myself,” she shared.
Gaga continued, “I was with my friend China before the show… and I said to her, ‘I think I might just fight my way through this whole show, ‘cause when I’m in New York, I fight. I gotta earn it, and I gotta go for it.’”
Her friend China shared something “really special” with her, the singer added: “Sometimes you don’t have to fight, you just have to show up.”
That message was similar to what Polansky told her before the performance. “Right before I came onstage, my fiancé, Michael, said, ‘When you go out there, let them fill you up,’” she said.
New York City has been crucial to her recent work and development, and the singer made it clear just how much the Big Apple means to her. “I’m sure all my albums could not be made without New York, but I am sure that this album would not have been made without New York. This is for all of you and for all your dreams, for maybe sometimes no more fighting, just showing up,” she concluded.
Gaga and Polansky got engaged in April after a day of rock climbing, and the singer confirmed their relationship status in July. The pair were first linked in December 2019 and spent the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic living together in 2020.
In a September 2025 interview with Vogue, Gaga opened up about how her life has changed since she and Polansky met. She revealed her mother, Cynthia Germanotta, introduced them.
“My mom met him and she said to me, ‘I think I just met your husband,’ and I said, ‘I’m not ready to meet my husband!’” Gaga explained. “I could never have imagined that my mom … found the most perfect person for me?”
The pair connected at a birthday party for Napster cofounder Sean Parker in December 2019. “I got invited and I said, ‘I wonder if Michael is going to be there,’ and my mom said yes, and so I went to the party and I kept asking for him and he finally came over to me and we talked for three hours,” Gaga added. “We had the most amazing conversation.”
