  • Golden Bachelor runner-up Leslie Fhima weighed in on the controversy surrounding Turner’s claims during a podcast appearance
  • Fhima made it clear that it’s “not my fight,” but she will “support” Nist

As the drama between exes Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist continues, former Golden Bachelor contestant Leslie Fhima is weighing in.

Fhima, 66, was the runner-up on Turner’s inaugural season of the dating show, where he ultimately proposed to Nist, whom he then married in a televised wedding. Nist, 72, and Turner, 74, got divorced just three months after their wedding, and now, Turner has revealed a heap of new information about their relationship and split in his new memoir, Golden Years.

In the memoir, Turner claimed that he had suicidal thoughts after he and Nist split, that she made him sleep on the couch during his first visit to her New Jersey home after their wedding and alleged that Nist “ignored opportunities for intimacy” after they finished filming the show.

In response, Nist spoke out on the Dear Shandy podcast and claimed that “not one of the stories that I have read is the way it happened.”

Now, Fhima has revealed her reaction to Turner’s bombshell accusations, saying on the 2 Black Girls, 1 Rose podcast that she has not read his memoir, but has seen excerpts. “I have read the chapter about me. He actually sent me the chapter a long time ago … He just wanted to get my okay on it, and I thought that was very respectful,” she said. “To be honest, he has nothing bad to say about me.”

As for what Turner has shared about Nist, Fhima called her “my good friend” and said, “I want everyone to be happy. I want everyone to find their person and to be happy.”

“I told Theresa this, I will support my friend. I adore her, I love her, but it’s not my fight,” Fhima continued. “I don’t want to be cold about it, but it’s not my — I’m not saying they’re in a fight — it’s just not my thing.”

The reality star added, “But I will support her and listen to her and I will give her advice. But I kind of want to be a little Switzerland, because it’s just not my fight.”

Nist said that she was “extremely upset” after reading her ex’s memoir, and that she felt “forced” to address certain accusations despite “never” planning to speak about the relationship again.

“It was really a matter of, if you have nothing good to say just don’t say anything. I didn’t want to hurt him. I never want to hurt another human being. I didn’t want to make anything bad for him, and I didn’t want to make it bad in case he wanted to find someone else,” she said on the Dear Shandy podcast.

“The thing that was nagging me the most were his daughters,” she revealed. “I loved his daughters. I love them. We don’t really talk now, but Jenny and Angie, and his granddaughters, Payton and Charlie, they’re really lovely people, and I didn’t want them to hear anything bad about their dad or their grandfather being said, and so I just left it the way it was. But now, I mean, he’s written a book and he said things, and now I can’t ignore it.”

After finalizing his divorce from Nist, Turner began dating someone new and announced his engagement to his girlfriend, Lana Sutton, in October.

“We’ve got BIG news. The Golden Bachelor is OFF the market. I found my perfect match and she said ‘YES’. I Love this woman,” Turner wrote in an Instagram post on Oct. 3 as he posed with his fiancée.
