Lizzo clarifies she is not quitting music industry: ‘I quit giving any negative energy attention’

She’s squashing the rumors.
Lizzo clarified her previous post, in which she claimed she was quitting music because her character had been “picked apart” after her former dancers accused her of sexual harassment.
“I wanted to make this video because I just need to clarify when I say, ‘I quit,’ I mean I quit giving any negative energy attention,” she said in a video posted to Instagram Tuesday.
“What I’m not going to quit is the joy of my life, which is making music and connecting to people. And I know I’m not alone. In no way, shape, or form am I the only person experiencing that negative voice that’s louder than the positive.”
The “Good As Hell” singer, 35, continued, “If I can just give one person the inspiration or motivation to stand up for themselves and say they quit letting negative people, negative comments win, then I’ve done even more than I could’ve hoped for. I’m going to keep moving forward and keep being me.”
Last Friday, Lizzo posted a message on Instagram, saying that she was “getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet.”
The flutist said she only wanted “to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it,” but she feels like the “world doesn’t want” her in it.
“I’m constantly up against lies being told about me for clout & views. Being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look … my character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name,” she added.
“I didn’t sign up for this s–t — I QUIT.”
Lizzo has faced public criticism since her former backup dancers — Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez — filed a lawsuit against her, claiming in August 2023 for creating a toxic work environment and sexual harassment.
In the lawsuit, the dancers claimed that “things quickly got out of hand” after “Lizzo began inviting cast members to take turns touching the nude performers, catching dildos launched from the performers’ vaginas, and eating bananas protruding from the performers’ vaginas” during a trip to Amsterdam in February 2023.
Per the docs, the four-time Grammy winner allegedly “pressured” and “goaded” Davis into touching the breasts of one of the nude performers.
The plaintiffs further claimed in court docs that a month later, Lizzo deceived them once more into attending a nude show, thereby “robbing them of the choice not to participate.”
The pop star denied the allegations, saying the “sensationalized” claims were false.
The “Rumors” singer was then hit with sexual harassment allegations from six additional employees.
Asha Daniels, who worked in Lizzo’s wardrobe department for her 2023 tour, alleged in a lawsuit she was verbally and physically abused by her manager, Amanda Nomura, and claimed Lizzo and staffers at her production company, Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc., were aware of Nomura’s alleged pattern of behavior.
In September 2023, Page Six exclusively reported that the “About Damn Time” singer asked the Los Angeles Superior Court to dismiss the “ridiculous” harassment lawsuits her former employees filed against her.
She also requested a trial by jury in response to the complaints.
