Lorde forced to pause Lollapalooza show after multiple fans pass out in crowd
Too hot to handle.
Lorde reportedly paused her Lollapalooza headline show in Chicago on Thursday after multiple concertgoers passed out in the crowd amid soaring temperatures.
“There’s someone who needs help right here,” the “Royals” singer told security during one interruption as she pointed toward the audience near the barricade, according to Rolling Stone.
She then waited until first responders reached the fan before continuing her set.
According to multiple reports, Lorde stopped her show at least three times throughout the evening as concertgoers struggled with the heat during the opening night of the four-day music festival.
“You look hot from up here,” the New Zealand native told the crowd early in her performance, acknowledging the steamy conditions before launching into hits from throughout her career.
Despite the interruptions, the 29-year-old kept fans entertained with songs including “Royals,” “Green Light,” “Supercut” and “Ribs.”
She also surprised the packed crowd by bringing out Charli XCX to perform their viral collaboration, “Girl, So Confusing,” earning one of the night’s biggest reactions.
The performance marked a return to Lollapalooza for Lorde, who previously performed at the festival in 2014.
She also appeared in 2017, but she was famously cut short because of severe weather.
Lollapalooza kicked off Thursday in Chicago’s Grant Park and runs through Sunday.
Headliners include Charli XCX, The Smashing Pumpkins, Olivia Dean, Jennie, Tate McRae and The xx.
