Lorraine Kelly is set to become a grandmother as her daughter Rosie is pregnant with her first child.
Rosie, who is the only daughter of the ITV daytime star, 64, and her husband Steve Smith, announced her pregnancy on Instagram on Friday evening. Lorraine’s lookalike daughter posted an adorable picture of her blossoming bump as she cradled her tummy while posing in the mirror.
Alongside the snap, Rosie penned: “We could not be more excited – you’re already so loved little one.” Another photo showed Rosie’s 12-week sonogram scan where she said her unborn baby was now ‘the size of a fig’.
Naturally, Rosie’s famous mum Lorraine shared her excitement in the comments as she gushed over the wonderful family news. Lorraine chimed: “THE most exciting thing to have ever happened in our family! Cannot wait to be a granny and so proud of Rosie and her Steve. It’s the best news EVER.”
The mother-and-daughter duo, and their pet dog, were a hit with fans of Celebrity Gogglebox the last time they invited cameras into their home, with one social media user tweeting: “Loving Lorraine, Rosie and Ruby on Gogglebox”.
Lorraine has a close relationship with Rosie – who returned to the UK in recent years after living in Singapore for four years. In 2020, her concerned mother broke down in tears on her ITV show Lorraine as she revealed her heartache about their separation due to the coronavirus pandemic.
TV star Lorraine shares Rosie with her husband Steve Smith – who she married in 1992. She met him while he worked as a cameraman on one of her early shows and said she knew he was “the one” the moment she laid eyes on him. The couple went on to welcome their first daughter Rosie to the world in 1994 and were hoping to have more children but it sadly wasn’t meant to be for them.
Lorraine previously complimented her ‘amazing girl’, Rosie – who recently purchased her first home. The two are so close that Lorraine kept a room in the house for Rosie despite her moving out. “We talk about everything under the sun,” said the TV host in an interview with Weekend Magazine.
She continued: “I’m her mum, though, I’d never say I was her best friend because she’s got her friends already. “I’d love to think she tells me everything but she doesn’t.”
