- The former One Direction singer cited untrue theories about his family and relationships
- There has been recent speculation around Tomlinson’s relationship with Love Island‘s Zara McDermott
Louis Tomlinson is done with online speculation.
The former One Direction singer posted to X on July 14 to vent his frustration, explaining that “the conspiracy chat” is “too much” when it extends to his personal relationships.
“The last few months have made it impossible to be on here,” Tomlinson wrote of participating on the social media platform. “All the conspiracy chat about my relationship, my son or even stretching sometimes to opinions on my Mum. It’s just too much and too hurtful for me to see!”
There has been speculation about Tomlinson’s romantic relationship after he appeared on U.K. reality star Zara McDermott’s Instagram story a few months ago. The pair had previously posted pictures from a Stereophonic concert at a similar area, and were spotted again attending Glastonbury together in June. Tomlinson’s latest romance is his first since his split from Eleanor Calder in 2022.
Tomlinson’s 9-year-son, Freddie Reign, has been largely kept out of the limelight by both the singer, and his mother, Briana Jungwirth.

Online speculation about Tomlinson’s late mother surprised the singer, as Johannah Deakin died almost a decade ago in 2016 following a battle with leukemia. Just before his mother’s death, in 2015, Tomlinson also lost his sister Félicite to a drug overdose, marking a particularly dark chapter for the singer. Tragedy has recently struck again in Tomlinson’s life, with the October 2024 death of former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne, someone he describe in an Instagram tribute as a “positive, funny, and kind soul.”

Tomlinson ended his X post with gratitude for his supportive fans, writing, “Thank you to everyone who always has my back!” It’s unclear if Tomlinson’s frustration with X extends to other social media platforms, as he has yet to make a post addressing his break there.
The singer has an upcoming live performance, on July 26, in Lodz, Poland as part of the mBank Summer Festival. This show will cap off a short festival run Tomlinson went on this summer in Europe and India.
