Love Island finalist hints at All Stars stint after bitter split from girlfriend

A Love Island winner has hinted that they would do spin-off All Stars following the end of their relationship from the show.

Sammy Root, 23, won the latest series of the ITV2 show, which aired last summer, with Jess Harding, 23. The former islanders continued their romance outside of the villa but it was later announced in October that they had split up.

Neither of them featured on the spin-off All Stars, which launched earlier this year, though. The show saw a host of former islanders return for “a second chance at finding love,” spending a month together in a villa in South Africa.

Following the first series of the spin-off, Sammy has now teased that he would be open to taking part in a second series. Discussing the prospect, he told the Sun: “Seeing as Love Island was the best experience of my life, I’d be silly to turn it down. Never say never, I’ll definitely consider it.”

During his interview with the outlet, Sammy also spoke about dating. He teased that whilst he’s been “talking” to different people, he’s “not really looking for anything serious” at the moment. He added: “I just wanna focus on myself this year and make the most of the position I’m in.”

It was announced in October last year that Sammy and Jess had split up, just months after they won the ITV show. It was suggested that the latter had “realised they’re better off as friends,” with them both later addressing their separation.

Jess said: “We shared a once in a lifetime experience together, so of course I’m sad.” She added in a Q&A at the time that she didn’t want to “go into detail” about their separation, but said that they are “just very different”.

Whilst Sammy said in his statement: “We had the most incredible experience winning Love Island and I genuinely saw a future with Jess.” He also commented: “Unfortunately things don’t always work out the way you’d hoped.”

Sammy and Jess aren’t the only couple from the show to have parted ways since the last series of Love Island. Their former co-star Ella Thomas confirmed recently that she’s no longer in a relationship with Tyrique Hyde. Fellow finalists Zachariah Noble and Molly Marsh, who were also on that series, announced last month that they have split up.

Some other couples from the franchise have also split up in recent months. They include Nas Majeed and Eva Zapico, who met on Love Island in 2020. It was announced last month that they have separated after four years together.

Additionally, it was confirmed last month that Love Island: All Stars contestants Demi Jones and Luis Morrison had parted ways. Georgia Steel and Toby Aromolaran have also ended their relationship, after having reached the final of the spin-off series together back in February.
