Love Island USA’s JaNa Craig Says Reason for Kenny Split Is ‘Terrible, Disgusting and Disappointing’

JaNa Craig and Kenny Rodriguez‘s breakup left Love Island USA fans speculating on what went wrong, and in her first statement about the split, she is hinting that things are worse than they think.

“Hi my loves. Thank you for all your love & support. It means the world to me. As you know, Kenny and I no longer together,” JaNa, 28, began on Tuesday, July 29, via Instagram Stories. “Please know that I have seen all the breakup theories and none have matched up to how terrible, disgusting and disappointing it truly is. Discovering that someone you loved isn’t who you thought they were and that the relationship you thought you were building hasn’t been genuine since day one has been truly devastating.”

She concluded, “Thank you for respecting my privacy and please know as a child of God, I will always be okay.

Speculation that JaNa and Kenny, 24, called it quits began after fans noticed the former couple made changes on social media. JaNa was the first one to unfollow Kenny before her friends — and their former season 6 costars — Serena Page and Leah Kateb did the same. Serena’s boyfriend, Kordell Beckham, and Leah’s partner, Miguel Harichi, also stopped keeping up with Kenny on Instagram.

The group remained close after appearing on Love Island USA in June 2024. JaNa was an original Islander that season, forming connections with Coye Simmons and Connor Newsum before Kenny caught her eye. Despite having instant chemistry, JaNa and Kenny weathered some relationship drama — mainly the fallout from Casa Amor — before finding their way back to each other.

After leaving the villa, JaNa and Kenny were determined to make their relationship work despite some obstacles, including dating long-distance.

“I don’t want to move [to Dallas] right away. I think we could do our own thing, change our work schedules so we can spend time [and do], like, a year of visiting each other — or less maybe — but me moving to Dallas right now would be crazy,” JaNa said on an episode of “The Viall Files” podcast in July 2024. “He leaves [Los Angeles, where the podcast episode was taped], today and I’m so sad! It was like, ‘Oh, we’re gonna be good and FaceTime all the time.’”

JaNa continued: “But knowing that I’m [here] until Tuesday and he’s leaving today, I was like, ‘This sucks because we spent every day together for the past month and a half.’ It’s like, we’re naturally best friends and partners. For him to leave, it’s super sad.”

Kenny, meanwhile, said he wasn’t concerned because of their time together in Fiji.

“That level of communication and trust that we already have speaks volumes,” he added. “We spent eight hours on that first date, [which] kind of kicked off where we’re at. I’m just staring at her, like, it was a lot to look at. … There really isn’t much that we don’t talk about.”

Ahead of their one-year anniversary, JaNa reflected on how their connection evolved.

“You know what’s so crazy? When it first came out, it didn’t hit me,” she exclusively told Us Weekly in June. “The first six months outside the villa, I don’t think it hit me. But now that it’s settled down and season 7 is coming, I was like, ‘My gosh, I did that last summer.’”
