Lydia Plath Reveals She Had Her ‘Wedding Date Planned’ Before Now-Husband Zac Wyse Even Proposed

Welcome to Plathville star Lydia Plath had an inkling she would marry husband Zac Wyse even before he formally popped the question.

“We, kind of, had our wedding date planned before we were even engaged,” Lydia, 21, said on the Wednesday, July 30, episode of Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo’s eponymous podcast. “We knew we were going to be getting married, like, end of February [or] beginning of March.”

Lydia, one of the children of exes Kim and Barry Plath, announced in December 2024 that Zac had proposed. They tied the knot two months later in February of this year.

Shortly before Zac proposed, Lydia questioned whether she needed to “change some things” about her plans.

“I was like, ‘OK, but if the ring isn’t coming soon, we’re going to have to change some things because I need to enjoy being engaged for a little bit,’” she recalled.

Zac, for his part, had been secretly planning to propose when he visited Lydia amid production of Welcome to Plathville.

“[The end of his trip] was the very first time we did not have a trip planned to see each other again, and so I’m crying,” Lydia said. “I’m like, ‘The wedding is coming up, supposedly, if everything goes as planned in three months, [and] we don’t have a flight booked to see each other. [I] don’t know when the ring’s coming in, like, what is happening here?’”

At the same time, Zac pretended to act “just as distraught” as Lydia was in order to conceal his plans.

“That whole week, he was really busy. He was always on the phone,” she said. “He was planning everything in motion. I had told him, ‘The crew can be there for the proposal as long as I don’t know that they’re there. Like, you got to plan that with them. Tuck them away, have them wear bush suits [or] whatever is necessary. I just don’t want to be proposed to and see cameras on me.’”

Zac worked with Lydia’s dad to organize the occasion.

“I call Barry, which the approval is another story,” Zac said on the podcast episode. “I talk to Barry. I’m, like, ‘Hey, we need to get her out to the location somehow, and we ended her dressed up. Could you possibly ask her to do a daddy-daughter dinner or something to honor her, and just have a good time and then, basically, stop by here for the proposal.”

Days later, Lydia got a call from a “really emotional” Barry, asking to hang out with just the two of them.

“My dad’s not one who can put on a face or act or anything,” Lydia recalled. “He’s sounding really emotional ‘cause at the time I was planning on moving to Colorado when we got married. He called me, and he was like, ‘Lydia, it’s just hitting me. I don’t have much time left with you.’”

She continued, “My dad and I’s relationship has grown so much over the last few years. We’ve just gotten so close.”

She accepted Barry’s offer for a “daddy-daughter” date at some of their favorite spots in their native Cairo, Georgia. At the end of Lydia and Barry’s outing, the TLC patriarch, 57, drove her out to Zac’s location for the big moment.

Zac popped the question with Lydia’s dream ring after they previously went jewelry shopping together during one of her visits to his native Colorado.

“I’ve never gone ring shopping with a guy before,” Lydia quipped. “I don’t just take him ring shopping, three weeks after I meet him. … I was not, like, doing it for anything soon. I was just getting out of the way, so that I could be surprised ‘cause I didn’t want a year down the road [to be] dropping all these hints [about what I liked].”
