Margot Robbie Makes 1st Comments About Motherhood After Welcoming Baby No. 1: ‘It’s the Best’

Margot Robbie is loving motherhood.

The Barbie actress, 35, made her first comments about how becoming a parent has “enriched” her life since welcoming baby No. 1 with husband Tom Ackerley in an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday, August 20.

“Well, you know,” Robbie told the interviewer, who mentioned being a new parent herself. “It’s like, [when] you try to explain to someone who has kids, you don’t need to because they get it, and if they don’t, it’s probably just really boring to hear.”

Robbie concluded with a smile, “So, it’s kind of like, ‘It’s the best,’ you know?”

Robbie’s A Big Bold Beautiful Journey costar Colin Farrell — who shares son James, 21, with ex Kim Bordenave and son Henry, 15, with ex Alicja Bachleda-Curús — also gushed about his journey as a father.

“Two decades in, still treading water most days,” Farrell, 49, said as Robbie listened with a smile on her face. “Oh, my God, it’s meant everything to me. Being a dad? Yeah, it’s meant everything to me. And yet I don’t want to put that they’re everything to me on them. But they are the most important facet of my life and have been since they came into being. … They’ve taught me so much. Whoever I am today, it’s in great part to do with their involvement.”

Robbie made her first red carpet appearance since welcoming her son in October 2024 on Wednesday, posing in a semisheer black dress alongside Farrell at the premiere of A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.

People confirmed on November 2, 2024, that Robbie and Ackerley, 35, had welcomed a baby boy. An earlier report from the Daily Mail revealed that the actress had gone into labor two weeks prior in October, just before her due date. A source told the outlet that all was “well” for the new parents.

Multiple sources confirmed Robbie’s pregnancy to People in July 2024 after photos published by the Daily Mail sparked speculation that she and Ackerley were expecting a child.

Robbie and Ackerley met on the set of Suite Française in 2013, but their relationship was platonic at first.

“We were friends for so long,” Robbie told Vogue in 2016. “I was always in love with him, but I thought, ‘Oh, he would never love me back. Don’t make it weird, Margot. Don’t be stupid and tell him that you like him.’ And then it happened, and I was like, ‘Of course, we’re together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before.’”

Us Weekly confirmed in 2016 that Robbie and Ackerley had quietly tied the knot on Australia’s Gold Coast.

Robbie addressed the chatter surrounding her family plans in a 2019 interview with the U.K.’s Radio Times.

“I got married and the first question in almost every interview is, ‘Babies? When are you having one?’” she said. “I’m so angry that there’s this social contract. You’re married, now have a baby. Don’t presume. I’ll do what I’m going to do.”
