Matt Lauer and Girlfriend Shamin Abas Hold Hands During Rare Outing at Don Lemon’s N.Y.C. Wedding
Matt Lauer and his girlfriend were two of the roughly 140 guests who attended Don Lemon’s wedding in New York City this weekend.
On April 6, the former Today show anchor, 66, and Shamin Abas were photographed in midtown Manhattan alongside other wedding guests before Lemon, 58, wed his longtime partner Tim Malone.
Lauer wore a navy suit jacket and a white-and-blue patterned shirt as he held hands and escorted Abas into the venue. She opted for a striped dress, auburn cardigan and tan top.
The wedding took place at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church and was officiated by Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the United States ambassador to the United Nations.
Other attendees included Ana Navarro-Cárdenas, Sunny Hostin, Tamron Hall, Luann de Lesseps, Clive Davis, Joy Behar and Sara Haines, as well as Alec and Hilaria Baldwin.

Lauer and Abas, who have been dating since 2019, are “happy and serious about each other,” a source told PEOPLE last year, noting that they “had a good solid foundation as friends and in business when they started dating, and the romance has grown over the years.”
Lauer previously attended another wedding in New York City for Today show producer Jennifer Long and her husband Reid Sterrett back in December. The event marked the first time he and former co-host Savannah Guthrie had been photographed at the same public place in six years.
In 2017, Lauer was fired from his role on Today after a former NBC employee, who was later identified as Brooke Nevils, said he sexually assaulted her, which Lauer had denied. Multiple women later came forward with accusations of their own after the initial allegation.
Days before they tied the knot this weekend, Lemon and Malone opened up to PEOPLE about their nerves before the big day, with Lemon describing himself as “a last-minute person” who doesn’t worry about “most things.”
“But this one I’m secretly worried about, but I’m letting Tim take the reins because he’s a good planner,” he said. “I’ll be writing questions for like the U.N. ambassador and he’ll be saying, ‘Oh, when are they going to put the buttons on our jackets?’ It’s an important question, but I’m just like, ‘Huh? What?’ So he has a million questions, but usually he gets it done without me even answering.”
