The stresses of wedding planning (and marriage, itself) are getting to Jesse McBee.
On this week’s episode of The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys, airing Monday, Aug. 18, Jesse’s upcoming wedding to his high school sweetheart, Alli Ventresca, began to feel more real to him.
While alone, audiences saw Jesse feeling the pressure as he noted that he had begun to “think about everything” he was set to face.
“I’m thinking about getting married. I can feel my heart beating through my chest, and I start sweating,” he said in a confessional, as the cameras show a glimpse of him rubbing his forehead and taking his hat off. “Once it all starts to boil over and all that stress starts to pile up, I honestly don’t know what to do.”
Jesse met up with his older brother, Steven McBee Jr., to have a heart-to-heart about what happened to him.
He said that upon looking it up, it “sounded like an anxiety attack,” adding that he just “got in my own head.”
“I don’t even know why [it happened] … I’m nervous about the wedding,” Jesse said.
“Well, you’re under a s— ton of pressure,” said Steven as Jesse replied, “I started thinking about everything that could go wrong.”
“I was thinking about, like, mom and dad’s marriage when they were younger and we were kids,” Jesse said. “They fought all the time, and I didn’t really see a whole lot of joy in that relationship. What do married people have to look forward to?”
Noting how it “felt like I was about to pass out” from his anxiety attack, Jesse also admitted to Steven that he “didn’t want to tell Alli about it because I don’t want her getting nervous that I’m getting nervous” since it wasn’t “really anything about” her.
Though he noted how Alli was “way too good” for him, Jesse added: “It does make you wonder if there’s something else out there, and you just never tried it or experienced it. … I don’t want to disappoint her.”
Toward the end of the episode, Jesse ultimately changed his mind about not disclosing his pre-wedding jitters to Alli as the two had a candid discussion about how he was feeling.
“I just started hyperventilating, and my heart felt like it was beating through my chest. It felt like I could not stop it,” he admitted while they were laying in bed together.
Jesse also noted that it’s just been “a lot of things” lately, “between business, the farm and all my other relationships with everybody.”
Alli asked whether he knew “exactly what caused [him] to have anxiety about it,” to which Jesse said: “I feel like I’m living a double life trying to keep this image they all have of not only me but of us.”
“It just feels like everybody thinks that we have the perfect relationship and that we’ve never had problems and that I’m some perfect guy,” he continued. “It’s not the case, first off. And I hate that they even say that because it just adds this unneeded pressure.”
From there, Jesse began to cry, wiping his tears away. This stunned Alli, who noted to the cameras separately how she doesn’t “get to see that side of him” and felt this was “scary” to witness.
“I really didn’t want to bring this to you, but I also felt wrong if I didn’t tell you. Just don’t want to let anyone down, especially don’t want to let you down,” Jesse said.
“I wish I would have known how you felt. Like, I wish you felt like you could come to me about those kinds of things,” Alli replied. “Do you think that postponing the wedding is something you’d wanna do? That you need to do?
The episode ended thereafter.
Fortunately, Jesse and Alli did eventually make it down the aisle.
PEOPLE exclusively unveiled a first look at the couple’s October 2024 wedding at White Iron Ridge in Smithfield, Missouri. The pair tied the knot in front of 200 guests, and later welcomed their first child, daughter Summer, in April.
“It’s the ultimate grand gesture of showing that you love someone in the most sacred way,” Alli shared with PEOPLE at the time of getting married, adding that it’s the “biggest decision you could make in your life and a commitment that you will be there for them through the good times and the bad times.”
The wedding will appear on the Bravo show’s season 2 finale.
