Morgan Evans Makes Rare Comment About ‘Private’ Relationship With Girlfriend Laci Kaye Booth

Morgan Evans is opening up about his romance with Laci Kaye Booth.

“I really care about her, and I’m really grateful for where we’re at right now too, and I just don’t want to mess with it,” Evans, 40, said of Booth, 30, during the Tuesday, March 3, episode of Bobby Bones’ “The BobbyCast” podcast.

Evans began dating the American Idol finalist in 2024, two years after his divorce from country singer Kelsea Ballerini. The Australian singer-songwriter said that dating “wasn’t really on [his] priority list” following his split from Ballerini, 32, but he had known Booth for years through radio shows and music festivals.

“She is awesome. … We just kind of connected on that level and enjoyed each other’s company,” he continued on Tuesday. “I will say, I have learned from my experience with my previous relationship and previous life that there is a level of detail that I think is healthy to share, and then there’s a level that’s like … ”

Evans called Booth a “proper legend” who is “actually really private.”

“We’ve been really intentional about sharing what we want to share and also, like, keeping what we want to keep to ourselves too,” he explained.

Evans also gushed about Booth’s singing voice. In January, the pair released their duet “Two Broken Hearts,” a single from Evans’ upcoming album, Steel Town, out March 20.

“When she opens her mouth to sing, it is just a gift. I’m so happy for her and the music she’s making,” he shared. “I’ve been through it. You gotta learn something from what you go through.”

Evans and Booth confirmed their romance at the Live in the Vineyard Goes Country festival in Napa Valley, California, in April 2025.

“This is my boyfriend, by the way,” Booth quipped during her set as she pointed to Evans. “And I’m in love with him.”

The pair later made their red carpet debut at the CMA Awards in November 2025.

Amid his romance with Booth, Evans has found himself wrapped up in some drama with Ballerini’s on-off ex-boyfriend Chase Stokes. Stokes, 33, took aim at Evans in a since-deleted comment under Evans’ interview on Tuesday.

“This is about the most pathetic excuse of masculinity ive ever seen. Get a f***ing life,” Stokes wrote.

In response to the comment, Bones, 45, wrote, “If you’re gonna come that hard then maybe don’t take it down. Also, nothing bad to say about this person. … I’m sure he’s probably a good guy. Mostly, like, in my heart, I just wonder why certain people can talk about things and other people can’t.”

During his interview with Bones, Evans talked about feeling blindsided when Ballerini — whom he married in 2019 — asked for a divorce.

“I definitely wasn’t [expecting it], and it took me by surprise,” Evans said. “But yeah, that whole time is such a blur. It almost feels like somebody else, just from where I’m sitting now. I just look back and I’m like, ‘Oh, my God.’ … Yeah, it was just kind of a whirlwind, life-changing moment.”
