An MTV star has vented her fury after a stranger told her three-year-old to ‘shut the f**k up’ in a restaurant.
Melissa Reeves, who shot to fame on Ex On The Beach in 2015, took to TikTok to detail what happened while she was out with daughter Vienna. Posting a video, which also featured the woman who allegedly spoke badly to her daughter at the end, the 30-year-old said: “Ok, so storytime on the woman who told my three-year-old to shut the f up in a restaurant.
“First of all, the comments I am receiving on the video are vile. Imagine having a child and someone saying that to them – you would be p***ed. What happened was one of the women that sells the flashing light toys on the street came into the restaurant and handed my daughter a flashing toy. I said no to buying it and she took the toy off my little girl, who obviously started crying.”
DJ and blogger Melissa, who also launched a family friendly fashion range called Mommy’s and Mini’s after Vienna was born, continued: “She was crying for 20 to 30 seconds maximum before this woman turned round and said ‘shut the f up’. I didn’t just sit there and take it and do a TikTok, as people seem to think I did. I literally snapped and screamed at her, ‘Do not tell my daughter to f off’. I called her names. I screamed at her. But obviously my child’s sitting on my knee so I’m not going to do anything else. I’m not going to attack her. I’ve got my child sitting on my knee.”
Melissa said although the woman later apologised, she was “very, very drunk” and got asked to leave the restaurant, telling followers: “So I know I wasn’t in the wrong.” Fans were quick to comment underneath, with many sharing their own similar experiences. One said: “Well done. Nobody should speak like that to a child. All the people hating are either non-parents or OAPs! Ignore the haters.”
A second wrote: “She was in the wrong, you reacted the right way as you said your child was present.” A third commented: “People should really not be judging you on such a short clip. Well done for sticking up for your child.” A fourth said: “Ignore the nasty comments. I’d have done the same PLUS worse. She’d have been dragged out. Bad toy seller too though… bad sales technique. Giving it to your child the snatching back.” While a fifth added: “Drunkenness does not excuse ignorance and that was ignorant of her! You handled it well momma!! Be proud of yourself!!”
Melissa shares daughter Vienna with footballer Danny Simpson, though the pair are no longer in a relationship. The former beauty pageant queen welcomed Vienna in May 2020. Announcing her birth on Instagram, she said: “24/05/2020 My world changed forever my baby girl arrived right on her due date words can’t describe how in love with this little angle I am. I feel so happy and blessed.”
