Naomi Watts Shares Sweet Tribute to Son Sasha on His 18th Birthday: ‘Cannot Believe It’

Naomi Watts is in her feels as she celebrates her son’s milestone birthday.
The actress, 56, shared a sweet message as well as photos of Sasha via Instagram on Friday, July 25, to ring in his 18th birthday.
“Happy birthday sweet, darling @sashapeteschreiber,” her post began. “18 today-and ready for the world! Cannot believe it.😊😭 Have so loved watching you grow into the kindest, most wonderful young man. Thank you for making me a first time mum.”
Alongside the note, Watts posted new and throwback pictures of herself with Sasha. One showed her holding a baby Sasha while another seemingly featured the pair at Watts’ second wedding to husband Billy Crudup in 2024.
Watts shares Sasha and daughter Kai, 16, with ex Liev Schreiber, whom she split from in 2016 after 11 years together. They continue to coparent as friends.
“We’re doing things very differently. I’m pretty proud of us, corny as that may sound,” Watts said in a 2019 interview with Net-a-Porter’s Porter magazine. “We’ve made it our absolute priority to be good and kind to each other and we’re absolutely committed to that.”
Schreiber, 57, also shares daughter Hazel Bee, 23 months, with his wife, Taylor Neisen, whom he married in July 2023. Crudup, 57, also has a son, William Atticus Parker, 21, with ex Mary-Louise Parker. The whole blended family recently celebrated Sasha’s high school graduation in June.
Watts has begun to open up about her infertility journey as she’s become an advocate for perimenopause. She revealed she was close to menopause at 36, which led her to struggle to conceive a child.
“The shame bled into all parts of my life, because I wasn’t being completely up front about this perhaps futile pursuit to get pregnant, which was taking up every spare moment and part of my brain,” she wrote in her 2025 book, Dare I Say It.
Watts said she wasn’t a candidate for IVF due to her hormone levels, but she did try fertility drugs like Clomid and procedures like intrauterine insemination (IUI). “I would have eaten my dog’s toenails if someone told me it would help. I tracked my ovulation and checked my temperature on the regular. I even got scans to see the follicles and the eggs forming, and we’d have sex at the exact optimal moment for conception. None of it worked,” she explained.
Eventually, she got pregnant but suffered a miscarriage. After a few more months of trying, she welcomed Sasha in 2007 and then Kai in 2008.
Watts celebrated a special Mother’s Day with her children this year, sharing a photo from their outing and writing, “My heart is so full. Thank you @sashapeteschreiber and @kaischreiberrr for giving me motherhood. And to Billy for the most wonderful day. Feeling so grateful ♥️♥️♥️.”
Schreiber, for his part, is still amazed at how grown up his kids are.
“He doesn’t feel like my kid anymore. He feels like a man now, so, it’s a whole different thing for us,” the actor told People of Sasha as they attended the Cirque Du Soleil New York City premiere of Luzia together in March.
