NE-YO is opening up about the dynamics within his polyamorous relationship.

The “Miss Independent” singer, 45, revealed earlier this year that he is happily dating four different women — but said in a new interview that the ladies are not allowed to date other men.

“The question I get the most is, are they allowed to date outside of me? That’s the question I get all the damn time, and I’m going to answer it right now. No… No they are not,” the star said in an interview with Power 105.1’s Angie Martinez on Thursday, April 10.

NE-YO explained the reasoning by saying that when he and the women first started dating, they were the ones that asked him to be exclusive.

“I did not demand their exclusivity. They offered it. They came to me and said, ‘I want to be exclusive to you and just you,’” he recalled. “I said, ‘You understand that your exclusivity to me does not mean my exclusivity to you. You understand this?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘You’re okay with this?’ ‘Yes.’ Okay cool, since you are offering your exclusivity and I’m taking it, now there’s rules that I need you to follow.”

The Grammy winner (né Shaffer Smith) said that despite said “rules,” he doesn’t “do ownership,” and is open to talking if something should arise.

“I’d be a fool to feel like I’m the only person that anybody will ever be attracted to, anybody will ever want to see, I know that,” he said. “So should the situation ever come up, nothing is above a conversation. However, in that I’m the head of this household, what I say goes. So if I say no, it’s a no. And you just got to let that be a no, or the door is over there.”

When asked if he was able to date outside of the relationship, he said he can, but is not really interested in doing so.

“I’m good. There is no random hookups here and there,” he said. “Everything is talked about, everything is discussed.”

NE-YO told Martinez that his mother and his seven children have met his girlfriends, and “everybody gets along.”

“I couldn’t wish for a better situation, to be honest,” he said. “We talk about jealousy, we talk about insecurity, we talk about all of these things, but we talk about it together as a unit. That’s the key — radical honesty.”

In March, NE-YO introduced fans to all four of his girlfriends in, sharing their names, nicknames and photos in an Instagram post.

He identified the ladies as Cristina (“Pretty Baby”), Arielle (“Twin Flame”), Moneii (“Phoenix Feather”) and Bri (“Sexy Lil’ Somethin’).

“LADIES AND GENTS I PRESENT MY PRYAMID,” he wrote. “Say something nice or move on with your life. We happy over here. 🥰💯”

In an appearance on the Real 92.3 Los Angeles radio station, he said the unique situation came about in the aftermath of his divorce from ex-wife Crystal Renay in 2022, as he realized he wanted to live a life free of lying.

“I hurt a lot of people with just being dishonest about things that I could’ve been honest about,” he said. “I realize now if I’d have just been honest from the jump, I could’ve saved myself a whole bunch of headache, heartache and everything else.”

The “Because of You” singer said the group of five does not all live together, but the women live nearby. When he’s on tour, he’ll bring each woman out for seven days at a time.
