‘The Thursday Murder Club’ (2025)

Thursdays are the day of the week that an ex-spy named Elizabeth (Helen Mirren) meets with former union leader Ron (Pierce Brosnan) and Ibrahim (Ben Kingsley), a retired psychiatrist. The main characters of The Thursday Murder Club find meaning in retirement by attempting to solve cold cases abandoned by the police decades earlier.

Shortly after a former nurse, Joyce (Celia Imrie), is recruited to the club, the co-owner of their retirement community is found dead. The surviving owner, Ian Ventham (David Tennant), wants to tear down the entire community. And if Elizabeth and her friends can’t solve this real-life murder mystery, then everything they’ve built together will be lost.

‘Hostiles’ (2017)

Near the end of the 19th century, Captain Joseph J. Blocker (Christian Bale) is forced to confront his past in Hostiles. Blocker is a veteran of the wars against the native tribes, including Chief Yellow Hawk (Wes Studi) of the Cheyenne. Over Blocker’s objections, he is ordered to release Yellow Hawk from custody and personally escort him and his family to their ancestral land.

During their journey, Blocker and his men encounter Rosalee Quaid (Rosamund Pike), the only survivor of a Comanche raid on her family’s home. The same Comanche raiders soon hunt Blocker and his group, and if he doesn’t accept Yellow Hawk’s offer for aid against their mutual enemy, then none of them will reach their destination.

‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ (2023)

Pete Davidson voices Mirage, an overly friendly Autobot in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. Mirage is so eager for a human friend that he lets Noah Diaz (Anthony Ramos) steal him before both of them are wrapped up in a threat to the entire world. Noah is more than just a car thief, and his military background gives the Autobots some fresh perspective about how to deal with humans.

However, Autobot leader Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) is openly distrustful of Noah and humanity in general. That may prove to be his downfall when the planet-eater Unicron (Colman Domingo) sends his minions to Earth. To defeat them, the Autobots must turn to their previously unknown descendants, the Maximals.
