Aaron Rodgers’ reveal that he’s married took the world by surprise — including longtime New York Jets WAGs Maranda Williams and Jessie Vera-Tucker.

Rodgers, the 41-year-old former Jets quarterback, confirmed he’s a married man during a press conference in June, telling reporters his wedding to mysterious wife Brittani took place “a couple months” before he broke the news.

The announcement surely came as a surprise to NFL fans, but even the wives of Rodgers’ former teammates, who star in the new Prime Video’s new series The Home Team: New York Jets, were taken by surprise by his relationship status.

“I didn’t know of any partner,” Vera-Tucker, whose husband is guard Alijah Vera-Tucker, tells PEOPLE when asked about Rodgers’ marriage news.

“I didn’t know he had a partner either, oh my gosh,” Williams, married to defensive end Quinnen Williams, says.

Both Williams and Vera-Tucker say they never saw Rodgers bring a partner around the team during the two seasons he played in New York. “It literally came out of nowhere,” Vera-Tucker quips to her fellow Jets WAG about Rodgers’ marriage. “Oh wow, I never saw anyone. Never met anyone,” says Williams.

But the ladies say it was “surreal” to have a star like Rodgers playing alongside their husbands. “When Aaron came to the team, that was so surreal, so awesome,” says Vera-Tucker, noting that her husband, a lineman, has the job “to protect that man.”

“So, to protect someone with such a history — it’s such an awesome experience and so cool to be a part of their story. It was really exciting to know that he’s going to be here,” she adds.

For Williams, her husband is on “the opposite side,” the defense, which means he’s used to trying to “get at Rodgers.” She recalls how “every time” Quinnen played against Rodgers when the quarterback was on the Green Bay Packers, “he would just say, ‘I got to get to Aaron, I’m going to sack him.’ ”

Williams adds, “It brought a lot of attention too to a lot of the guys and the fan base. They were pretty excited.”

Rodgers first publicly mentioned Brittani — who is quite private, and has no social media, he says — on The Pat McAfee Show in December 2024, casually dropping the life update while discussing his Christmas shopping, and later sparked rumors that he had gotten married.

The star appeared on the show again in April 2025, and shared that the relationship is “serious.”

“I’m in a different phase of my life,” he explained. “I’m 41 years old. I’m in a serious relationship. I have off-the-field stuff going on that requires my attention.”

Before tying the knot with Brittani, Rodgers — who has been vocal about his desire to remain out of the public eye — had several high-profile relationships. Most recently, he was linked to Mallory Edens, a model and the daughter of one of the Milwaukee Bucks’ primary owners, Wes Edens.

He was also previously engaged to Shailene Woodley until the exes called off their engagement in February 2022 and fully ended their relationship that April. Rodgers also dated both Olivia Munn and retired NASCAR driver Danica Patrick.
