NFL Star Xavier Legette Says He Eats Racoon — and His Cousin Brought One to Thanksgiving Dinner

NFL star Xavier Legette reveals one of his family’s uncommon Thanksgiving dishes.

The Carolina Panthers wide receiver, 23, joined New Orleans Saints wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown and his brother, Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, on the Dec. 11 episode of the St. Brown Brothers Podcast. During the group’s conversation, Equanimeous, 28, asked Legette what his “hottest food take” or “something weird he likes to eat.”

“I eat raccoon,” Legette replied.

“You what? What do you mean, raccoon?” Equanimeous asked to confirm what he just heard.

“Like the raccoon you see in the trash can,” Legette clarified.

A confused Equanimeous needed more clarification, and Legette explained he hunts raccoons. “I hunt it, I kill it, I skin it, cook ‘em, eat ‘em. All of that,” he said.

Amon-Ra, 25, asked when the last time Legette enjoyed raccoon, which happened to be Thanksgiving.

“All my people do hunting and all that,” Legette explained. “My cousin is the one that killed it, and came and was like, ‘Come on, we got the raccoon.’ ”

“That sounds crazy,” Amon-Ra laughed. Equanimeous then asked what it tasted like.

“It’s got its own touch,” Legette said. “You know everybody says it still tastes like chicken, but raccoon got its own touch though.”

“Interesting, I never heard of that,” Equanimeous said. “That’s a first… What else do you eat that’s weird?”

Without hesitation, Legette revealed he also eats squirrels and rabbits.

“You eat extraordinary s— in the forest and s—,” Amon-Ra joked. “Just like squirrels and rabbits.”

“Just the little s— that runs around the forest,” Equanimeous added.

“He’s gonna say skunk next,” Amon-Ra continued. 

Although the St. Brown brothers were making jokes about Legette’s eating habits, he still invited them to enjoy a meal with him.

“Y’all gonna come to my city and try all this stuff,” he said. “I’m telling y’all, you’re going to like it.”
