Olivia Munn Makes Rare Comment About Aaron Rodgers, Praises Him for Setting the Record Straight

Olivia Munn isn’t interested in watching a Netflix documentary centered around her ex Aaron Rodgers.
“I didn’t watch it. I knew what it was going to be,” Munn, 44, shared on the Monday, June 30, episode of “Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard” podcast. “It was going to push a narrative that during my time with them, never would ring true. … There was this narrative that took hold because if you remember, back in the day, Jessica Simpson was hung out to dry for the Cowboys failures.”
When Simpson, 44, dated Tony Romo from late 2007 to July 2009, some fans unfairly blamed the singer whenever the NFL quarterback didn’t perform his best on the football field.
From Munn’s recollection, she never got praise if Rodgers, 41, played well while they were dating.
“During the time that I was with him, he had three hail marys, I think two NFC championships — not wins — but he made it into the NFC championship, which is very hard,” she said. “No one would want to talk about that. I didn’t get credit for any of the wins.”
If the football chatter wasn’t enough, Munn also faced headlines as fans speculated that she was the reason behind Aaron’s estranged relationship with his family, including brother Jordan Rodgers.
“There’s this whole big narrative that stayed with me for so many years, but there was just this dynamic in the family that had nothing to do with me,” Munn explained to host Dax Shepard. “It became this whole big thing, and people were like, ‘I can’t believe her, she’s keeping this family apart.’ People have speculated for many years what was the rift, and I know, but I’m not saying because it’s not my story to tell.”
In August 2024, Ian O’Connor released a book titled Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers. The book included interviews with Aaron and his family members.
In the best-selling read, Aaron said his family issues were “deep-rooted” and Munn “has nothing to do with all the years” of prior estrangement.
Aaron’s decision to set the record straight meant a lot to Munn — especially as she battled breast cancer at the time of the book’s release.
“Thank God somebody had read it and said, ‘Oh, wait! Aaron speaks,’” Munn shared. “You’ve been asking for the longest time. This is the constant conversation. The man himself is saying it. They don’t want that answer. … I was really grateful that he did that. Even if people didn’t want to take hold of that statement, it made me feel good that it was said.”
Both Munn and Aaron have since moved on with new partners. On June 10, the athlete confirmed he got married to a woman named Brittani “a couple months ago.” As for Munn, she married comedian John Mulaney in 2024 and share two children.
