Olivia Rodrigo is back on the red carpet for a cause.

On Thursday, April 24, the Grammy winner was honored with Planned Parenthood’s Catalyst of Change Award at the organization’s Spring into Action Gala. She glammed up in a gorgeous ensemble for the occasion, held at Cipriani South Street in New York City.

Rodrigo looked angelic as she prepared to receive the honor, wearing a white scoop-neck dress with thin straps coming together at the chest.

The floor length gown had a small slit that gave a peak at Rodrigo’s silver heels. While she opted for minimal jewelry, the singer accessorized with small earrings and a bright pink lip. Her hair was pushed back tightly behind her ears.

When accepting the honor, the singer, 22, said the “greatest privilege” her career has given her has been the “connection I’ve made with women through my music.”

“When I play shows, I look out at crowds filled with young girls, and the bond that I feel with them is profound,” Rodrigo said in her speech. “To be in a space where we can all feel safe to be wild, emotional and carefree is incredibly powerful.”

She added, “And I often wonder, what happens to those girls when they leave those venues? Or their dreams? What kind of world are they returning to? We live in a world that politicizes our bodies and uses harmful ideologies to deny us safety and healthcare. And it breaks my heart to think that because of oppressive laws and outdated policies, some of those girls might not get to follow their dreams the way I’ve been able to follow mine.”

Rodrigo, 22, has been a vocal advocate for women’s and girls’ rights around the world. During a 2022 Washington, D.C., show on her Sour Tour, she made a “heartbroken” speech criticizing the Supreme Court two days after a leaked opinion draft indicated that a majority of justices would vote to overturn Roe v. Wade, which guaranteed the right to abortion (the 1973 decision was overturned in June 2022).

“Our bodies should never be in the hands of politicians,” she said. “I hope we can raise our voices to protect our right to have a safe abortion, which is a right that so many people before us have worked so hard to get. It’s so important.”

Before embarking on her Guts World Tour in February 2024, the former Disney Channel star launched the Fund 4 Good global initiative, which commits itself to building an equitable and just future for all women and girls through community-based non-profits that champion girls’ education, support reproductive rights and prevent gender-based violence.

Rodrigo also partnered with the National Network of Abortion for the North American leg of her tour. In December, it was announced that the artist would be donating more than $2 million from the net proceeds of ticket sales.

The funds benefited 10 organizations including the National Network of Abortion Funds (United States); Women’s Shelters Canada; Women Against Violence Europe; The Pratthanadee Foundation (Thailand); Korea Foundation for Women; Harmony House Limited (Hong Kong); NPO Women’s Saya-Saya (Japan); Aidha (Singapore); Jhpiego (the Philippines) and Wesnet (Australia).
