Perez Hilton’s family details horrific moments before ‘suicide attempt’
Perez Hilton’s family fled the blogger’s Miami home just moments before he began harming himself in a livestream on Tuesday.
“Just minutes before the public livestream incident, Perez’s children, niece, and sister were inside the home,” the family shared in a new statement Thursday.
The family said that “when it became clear that Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself,” they “immediately fled to protect” the blogger’s three children — Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8 — “from witnessing any further trauma.”
“Our highest priority right now is helping the children begin to heal from what they experienced,” the statement continued. “An important part of that process is allowing them to safely return home and begin rebuilding a sense of security and normalcy.”
The family also said “the events of the past several days have been nearly unbearable” for them, while thanking fans for their “overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers.”
At the end of the statement, Hilton’s family promised to continue to provide updates on the media personality’s condition via his website.
“Again, thank you for your compassion, understanding, and continued prayers,” the statement concluded.
Hilton was hospitalized Tuesday after self-harming in a TikTok livestream.
Cops responded to reports of a “suicide attempt,” according to 911 dispatch audio obtained by Page Six on Wednesday.
Authorities arrived at the scene around 7 p.m. and remained at Hilton’s Miami residence for four hours before he was “safely recovered and transported … to a local hospital.”
Hilton’s family has posted multiple updates on his health since the incident occured.
On Wednesday, his loved ones said Hilton is “able to communicate” which “has given [them] hope.”
“For now, we’re taking things one step at a time and keeping our focus where it belongs, on Perez and his recovery,” the statement continued. “Again, thank you, truly, for all your support and compassion. We are so grateful.”
In a previous update, Hilton was confirmed to be “receiving medical care,” as his family said their “focus right now is on his well-being.”
They also asked fans to “respect Perez’s privacy, as well as the privacy of his family, during this difficult time.”
A few weeks before Hilton self-harmed, he shared with fans that he was “feeling “overwhelmed” and “in a bit of a spiral.”
He also admitted he was falling “off the wagon in every sense” while navigating his family’s move from Nevada to Florida.
Earlier this year, Hilton was hospitalized over a life-threatening sepsis battle and emergency surgery.
He later became vocal about his faith during his recovery.
