  • The Unholy Trinity, a Western starring Samuel L. Jackson and Pierce Brosnan, is in theaters June 13
  • Also in the cast are two of Brosnan’s real-life sons, Paris and Dylan
  • Saban Films and Roadside Attractions have released an explosive new trailer of the 1870s Montana-set film

The Unholy Trinity asks one big question: would Samuel L. Jackson or Pierce Brosnan win in a shootout?

As its newly released trailer shows, the Western features the two screen legends like audiences have never seen them before. Brosnan, 71, plays Irish lawman Gabriel Dove, while Jackson, 76, plays a mysterious outlaw calling himself St. Christopher.

“Man don’t know what he is ’til his back’s against the wall,” says Jackson in the trailer.

“A tale of revenge, dark secrets and buried treasures,” teases a synopsis, The Unholy Trinity “is set against the turbulent backdrop of 1870s Montana. It picks up in the moments before the execution of Isaac Broadway, as he gives his estranged son Henry an impossible task: Murder the man who framed him for a crime he didn’t commit.”

Tim Daly plays Isaac, while newcomer Brandon Lessard plays Henry. Costars include Ethan Peck, Q’orianka Kilcher, Veronica Ferres, David Arquette, Gianni Capaldi and Katrina Bowden.

Also in the cast are two of Brosnan’s five sons, Paris (playing a character named Thomas) and Dylan (playing a pastor), whom the actor shares with wife Keely Shaye Smith.

“I had my two sons with me, they are in the movie,” he told Variety in October 2024. “If they want to be actors, I am not going to stop them. They know how difficult it is.”

Brosnan also said Westerns are one of his favorite film genres. “I grew up watching them as a boy,” he told the outlet. Of his character, he added, “He’s a decent man, trying to do the best he can. So many fellow Irishmen and women built the West on their shoulders. They wanted to create lives for themselves and there is romance to that.”

The Unholy Trinity is directed by Richard Gray and written by Lee Zachariah. It was granted an interim agreement while filming during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike, premiering at the Zurich Film Festival last October.

Jackson has among his upcoming projects Afterburn costarring Olga Kurylenko and Dave Bautista. Brosnan reunites with his MobLand costar Helen Mirren for The Thursday Murder Club, on Netflix Aug. 28.

Saban Films and Roadside Attractions will release The Unholy Trinity in theaters June 13.
